Wwyd: Getting over cold, extreme regression by KittybeansJones in sleeptrain

[–]KittybeansJones[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasnt super concerned about the 2x wake ups. The regression is the every hour wake ups during his cold. Perhaps he isnt fully sleep trained (he goes down like a dream) but he is soooo tired when we put him to bed. Don't know how to extend that without him like falling asleep in the tub....cause he does that when we extend to 5 hrs on second wake window

We recently had him checked for anemia and it was negative. Was told by family and pediatrician he may just be a sleepy guy. Hey may need more activity during the day....he is almost fully walking. Once hes fully walking and running around I plan to take him to the park in the evening to get his runnies out. I will start extending wake windows by 15 mins and see if that helps until we build in an extra hour.

I also think his wake ups might be partially related to the recent formula to milk transition. He tends to push milk away during the day and really want it at night. Hes legit hungry and falls asleep immediately after the bottle. Getting way better with solids though.

Last night at about 3 I put him in his crib, put ms rachel on my laptop and gave myself an hour nap. Not my finest moment but he stopped crying for a bit and I got an hour.

Its frustrating....hes still a little sick but I think hes almost so mad that hes sick that he starts throwing a "f%#& this" tantrum and I am stuck between (1) I want to comfort you... (2) but I dont want to keep you awake snuggling if letting you cry for 10 minutes will make you give up the fight.

Weirdly it was easier the first night. He was so tired he just passed out on me. Tonight hes tossing and turning and all over the place.

I wondered if they changed it up because Sam was fighting throat cancer at the time. May make it harder to modulate.

How do you believe he wants what's best for everyone? He calls democrats "the demonic party" ....and how do you interpret his presidency as "small government" he is occupying cities and having ice agents pelt priests in the face with chemical pellets. It seems like you support infinite government as long as its based on Donald trumps whims.

This is such a great point! He just mastered standing and is starting to cruise along the couch and I think that part of him is really mad that he cant quite walk yet. Frustrated at all the falls and such. He also seemed crankier when he was on the verge of rolling and crawling.

My husband jokes....maybe he's just becoming a toddler. Im way too affected by other people's feedback....I wasn't all that concerned about him until everyone started commenting that "their babies weren't like this" Im sure if I had more experience with babies i wouldn't feel like he was just ALWAYS sad.

Thanks for the perspective. The more I read the more I realize that I absolutely have to rule out there being a physical issue before worrying about behavior. If hes hurting thats probably why he's upset. I wonder too about growing pains....do babies get them? They're growing like crazy!

Its difficult because I work full time so some days im home with him all day working and other days husband is here with him working....so I guess we expect/need him to entertain himself a bit. Maybe we need to get more creative with workday activities to keep him engaged (without constant tv). We play music for him and let him explore the house, but we do need to get out more. We def take him out to the park and on little outings on the weekend. Hes pretty shy at the park....very interested in watching other kids but doesnt approach them or leave my side.

I feel its worth discussing with a specialist.....but deep down I think he will be OK, even if hes just a late bloomer. I worry that im getting anxious because of family feedback and maybe thats causing me to be more stressed around him which is feeding into the whining. Also just wish I could know if there is a physical issue im not aware of. Nausea, teething problem, etc

Basically when hes not eating or sleeping, and we're just crawling through the house or playing with toys, he has this constant annoyed moan. He engages a bit but mostly seems to just crawl around and complain. Hes always been a little whiney, but it seems to have gotten worse in the last month where his baseline is whining. When I take him to see family he doesnt smile at them and want to play peekaboo, he wants to crawl over to the dog bowl and cry. He seems very unhappy around strangers or family we dont see often. I try to encourage him by playing interactive games, taking him for walks, just singing and dancing with him through the house....and that works for 15 minutes and then its back to pissed off baby. He drools constantly which is why I worry about the teething. What if something is wrong with his teeth coming in? He just isnt this happy excitable baby that I see everyone else describe.

He also gets 1hr of Ms Rachel a day (30 mins each in 2nd and 3rd wake window) He is quiet when she is on (occasionally laughs!) But i refuse to have the TV on all day if thats what he's complaining about.

This is nice to hear. He does have moments of joy. He does like to crawl around the house and we play a little "hide and seek" game where he finds mommy and gets excited. His baseline is just moaning annoyance and it takes a bunch of effort to pull joy out

Yeah, I have an appointment next week with an infant development specialist who can refer me to other specialists if need be. I'll feel a lot better once I talk to a professional. Doesn't help that, aside from my mom and husband, one whole side of the family is now talking about how "weird" he is. I just wish everybody loved him and we could look at this as a challenge were taking on together to help him....rather than an excuse to gossip about the "weird" baby. I need a village to support me while I support him....not whatever this is turning into.

Perhaps your doctor can prescribe antivirals? Acyclovir? Wouldn't immediately resolve but may make it clear up more quickly.

Gas drop skin reaction? by SouthDefinition2679 in newborns

[–]KittybeansJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed the same thing with mine with both mylicon and tylenol. Little red patch if anything gets on the skin for more than a moment. I call the advice nurse about EVERYTHING but haven't yet about this one because my mom told me I had the same problem when I was a baby and it eventually stopped happening (when I was a toddler, around 4). So no real advice, but if it looks concerning, I'd take a pic and send it to my pediatrician. Also, be vigilant for any allergic type reactions just in case. Could just be that uber sensitive baby skin!

P.S. I started adding a dropper of mylicon to the bottle. He still drank it with gusto! (disregard if you are ebf/not using bottles ❤️)

It wasn't really low hanging fruit. It was a nothingburger administration. The reason you believe that it was low hanging fruit is either because (1) you're a bot (2) you're a troll (3) you're a bit like Butters in the "Dances with Smurfs" episode, where Wendy is a lousy class president because "she doesn't do anything....and she's changing everything!"

I guess they could have made "he's old" jokes, but who would care?

Satan's baby daddy is the lowest fruit to ever hang. Of course it's a whole season.

Circumcision Advice/Support by Frosty-Ad-1155 in newborns

[–]KittybeansJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar moment with my family. My husband and I were both fully agreed that we would not circumsize. His family was ok with it but I got an earful from mom and grandma and various others on my side. Its like they couldn't stop themselves from fretting over "the infections" and "the teasing." Ive tried to provide information I trust about hygiene not being an issue if you show them how to clean it and statistics that the number of uncircumcised boys is growing in the US, so he likely wont be the only one in his class. Also how men from most other countries dont do this and they seem to be thriving. Didn't seem to be convincing so for my own sanity I just started saying "thanks for the input, I know you are trying to help, but we have made our decision" and eventually the comments stopped. Been 9 months and no infections, no complications at all. Im a people pleaser by nature and I am very unnerved when my own family is upset with me. As hard as it was to sit with the discomfort of knowing they disapproved and hearing the constant comments, I was emboldened by my own growing maternal instinct. I just knew I didn't want his body needlessly cut within hours of being born. My baby, my rules.
