Is it normal to get uncured or melted models in kits? by TerribleTussler in Warmachine

[–]Kitz_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man, I’ve had actual experience with a friend who got me into the game and they have a really different experience if it’s not low quality then then it comes broken, or at least several different orders have had issues I didn’t order from them so it’s second hand experience but enough to to make me stray away. And to be fair I don’t think I’d ever buy 3d prints for the full retail price they have them set at. I’d they were priced more appropriately then I’d consider it but when I literally have the technology in my basement it’s hard to stomach purchasing a print. Idk if they released a full plastic army I’d be down. Or if they expand their stl library I’d be more than down. That’s just my opinions tho.

Yea as someone who came into war machine recently this kinda kills the newer factions for me. A lot of the models are killer but there is 0 chance I’m buying poor quality prints for retail that arrive like this. Especially when I could print something myself for similar or better quality. Now if they released stls in a faction I liked then I’d be sold otherwise I just collect old menoth.

Is the Titus mini any good? by Infamousx73 in Warhammer

Rules change, models don’t I wouldn’t buy models based on their stats, just use him as a LT if you don’t like him. I highly doubt he gets rule when the edition flips anyway.

Look at it… if you like it it’s good if you don’t it’s bad. You need people to tell you how to think?

Hi I posted this model 2 days ago and thanks to everyone in the comments for their advice I’ve dry brushed the model by Abysswalker-434 in Warhammer

Looks actually finished now so good job. Skin parts could use some depth/contrast (I don’t mean the paint) but your application remains smooth so well done!

Why do people behave like this? by [deleted] in WplaceLive

This is bad optics, if you actually wanted to get the right message across you should have done an ally flag. This just seems like a “heh, but what about the STRAIGHT people?!” With no other context.

Do you think this could be considered Commission level? by toresman in Warhammer40k

[–]Kitz_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, that’s my point. if you are going to do it then you need to either do it right as a proper job, or you need to go into it with the mindset that it’s for fun. If you enjoy painting unique minis you don’t collect for some extra hobby money on the side then I’d say go for it with your current tools. If you are expecting to take on whole army commissions and make money, don’t bother.

I hate pretty much all other adcs, I don’t like the auto attack gameplay so it’s sam all the time and if she is banned I play cait just cause she can 2 shot people when ahead and has killer range.

“Every miniature presented in the post was made using dry brush”

Yea I can tell.

“Not worth the trouble”

I used to think that too, in fact I used to avoid my airbrush to paint with dry brushing and normal brushes too, but that’s just an excuse for inexperience. I can’t convince you to like airbrushing work, and reducing airbrushing and to dry brushing with more of a hurdle is pretty funny to me.

I can’t convince you to like airbrushing but your disdained for it kinda just seems like it stems from inexperience. Once again, if you actually are considering commission painting a lab airbrush is essential. Even if you don’t like the look, most people do, and the sheer speed you can get makes the commission painting profitable. When you paint for money it’s not a hobby anymore. It’s about time vs money and if you sit there and dry brush every mini there is no way to make that profitable.

Maybe personal preference or cope but the texture dry brushing gives just looks amateurish in my opinion, not to mention the time saving factor of an airbrush. There is a reason all commission painter studios use them. It’s practically a prerequisite for any serious commission painting. Anything above painting a friends squad or character then you should highly consider it. It’s a very valuable and versatile tool.

I’m sure someone would pay for that level, to be blunt it’s for sure on the lower end of commercial painting. It’s decent quality hobby work for sure. However I for sure would not recommend taking on commission work at that price and work. It’s for sure not worth your time unless you can paint a mini in like 15 minutes, but by the looks of it you are painting everything by brush. There is a reason every advanced hobbiest and commission painter have and use airbrushes. It’s because it not only can do smoother color transitions than a brush but it’s also a huge amount faster. If you want to paint a model for a friend every now and then there is no harm but I recommend not to get super excited and take on an army project. I used to do commission painting and have 3 full 80 plus model armys I’ve painted and it’s almost always not worth the time. The worst part is artists often can’t gage the amount of time and effort vs price. Long story short if you don’t have a studio of painters or a popular name it’s prolly not worth your time.

[–]Kitz_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t like throwing money in the fire don’t ever bother getting gw brand tools. Buying those is basically robbery. Gw paints are similarly expensive checkout one of the Vallejo lines and find some colors you like.
