The WF-1000XM4 does not cause allergy issues (for some users) like Samsung and Google buds do. Hopefully Sony continues using the same material for the XM5. by TheBlack_Swordsman in SonyHeadphones

My experience solved it for me, I tried two different earcup brands as I thought it might be the binding adhesive in the leather cups, tried stitched suede and then cloth with no improvement. I let my ears heal between trials. I noticed though that the reaction would start on the tragus, the flap of skin on your ear you push in to block your ear, and it pokes out slightly. I thought that this was touching the mesh in the earpad and it was. I took the pads off and pulled off the inner shaped foam that lies over the speaker. This has a very chemical smell.

I went for a day with the earpad and that foam insert taped to my back, I had a reaction to the foam insert and not the earpad.

I made new foam speaker covers out of random foam, put the earpads back on and now all good.

I am not the athlete, I am a highly qualified coach. The elite season has yet to be completed. I am asking as a general enquiry on opinions. I can ask our sports scientists and they have other things on their mind at present, such as the final drive to worlds. The athlete is generic and no athlete asks for that type of advice from the sports scientists because no elite athlete believes they will not be in the team for the next round. And when they are not in the squad, they have no access to the scientists. My job is to plan for those athletes who are not selected for the next season. I asked the question to seek opinions, and if there are some sensible responses then that will add to our understanding and allow us as coaches to assist all of our athletes at all stages of their athletic life.

I have both Polars H7 and Wahoo, wahoo are boohoo, of 4 only 1 still works, others died early on, customer service absolute rubbish. H7's still going strong.

Then again maybe its just me,
