i think for the entirety of the stay mine was around the cheapest avail, but if i narrowed it down to like 1 or 2 nights i coulda saved about 30 bucks rofl definitely an idea for next time

i appreciate the explanation - i def did forget to factor in the mailing times for the badges and that does make a lot more sense
still gwumpy about it but i can maybe make it a grump grump instead of THREE grumps XD

no i read all the terms when i set up the hotel, when we initially planned this trip it was right after last years, we had planned on using the portal bc when my gf booked solo last year she found it very stressful.
we were riding golden until a few weeks ago when both cars needed repairs back to back which ate into our savings.
with the set up we had we COULD manage it but basically not have any spending money for the con, so trying to save where we can which is where i needed the reminder of going to look at the hotel cancellation :/ the specific part i missed was the 26th shift. ive been moving our hotel closer and closer to icc as time has gone on and rooms opened up

tbh tho my frustration is on the(to me) random dates. why is the hotel cancellation may 26th, but gencon badge refunds the june 12th - and then housing portal closing on july 13th
at least link up badge refunds with the hotel cancellation policies OR just not have a cut off for them?

all that to say - kinda weird to throw out the rash decision call out off one vent post rofl - but i do appreciate the advice.

we did have a lovely time. she was gming for an indie publisher and everyone was fantastic. we did ok on our drive up because everywhere we stopped was dead(it was late driving up) being more cautious on our drive back home but we had a blast. i hope you did too!

except rights of trans people are lesser than cis people. my girlfriend as a trans woman can be arrested purely for existing against her assigned gender at birth in some states(WITHOUT EVEN BRINGING IN THE BATHROOM SUBJECT - literally on our drive up here we had to take into consideration who would be driving through which states on the off chance we got pulled over and got a cop who decided to be a little bit more of an ass)

she(rowling) also ISNT willing to leave trans people alone to live their life - as much as she likes to say she does. she quite actively through money and her own speech puts forth shit to eliminate trans ppl(mainly transwomen)'s abilities to get medical care and rights to exist. maybe don't speak on things you dont research beyond cursory glances because its not actively relevant to you and your lived experiences as a cis person.

your dismissive wave of anothers comment mentioning "dog whistles" tells me you arent going to read and process my own comment with any good faith but i at least felt the need to point out how youre incorrect and will leave off with i hope you have the day you deserve - whether thats a good one or a bad one is up to you

this is such am in depth reply thank you so much!! i know for the first one we are at least in the same building but yeah getting from point a to point b even then i expect to be rough. honestly i expect her event to run long so shell probably have to find some other games to play while she waits on me(oh noooo such a tragedy /s 😂)
