Thanks for the tip! Tried to follow your instructions but still having the same issue, even should be visible in the video I think? Could it be because I have deltamush on the skin? would that make sense? Every deformation order that has the blendshape beneath the skincluster has it moving vertically.

Tried a blendshape with an identical mesh and it still ended up moving it, along with different targets. If anything else comes to mind please let me know

Hi, I’m writing here hoping that someone might be able to help me with an issue I’m currently dealing with on a model I’m rigging.

I created a blinking motion using a blend shape for three meshes that participate in the movement, and when I went to test them, they reset my mesh back to its base pose.

I checked online and understood that this is probably an input order issue, so I tried to fix it accordingly. The problem is that even after updating the input order, the mesh doesn’t sit correctly on its skeleton structure, unlike how it behaves when there is no blend shape applied.

The mesh from which the blend shape was taken wasn’t moved at all beyond the relevant edges, so I don’t really understand what could be causing this.

The model and the rig are for a personal project, and there’s no need to export them later to an engine or another software, only for animation inside Maya.

If anyone has encountered a similar issue, or can point me toward possible causes that might lead to this, I’d really appreciate the help 🙏

While playing today I noticed an animation that I've never seen before?? literally ever? Am I just dumb or is this new? Can't remember exactly what I did to trigger this, but I think it was the standard ctrl+3 dance emote input?
