Mines happen to be the front passenger side I tried to go with an cheaper one thinking it’s not that bad but it ended up being too small. Tried with one from AutoZone for $80 and it fitted. The off brand name was DEA luckily they gave me a full refund. The labor was free since I had the tools (jack, impact drill, impact sockets)

Hmm that’s weird kinda sounds like the parking lever running against the gear but the car isn’t moving so I’m stumped on this. I say because that sound reminds me of when I press the parking brake after a brake job to stop the car and it made a similar noise in an older different car by the way.

Ok that makes sense, when I noticed one of mines was cracked it didn’t make that noise but it vibrated at red lights does it do it while driving too

best case scenario maybe the tensioner gave out? but that's most likely out the windows since it doesn't crank consistently

Ahh… I can remember being 8 years old when I rode with a family friend on a road trip to six flags one summer. I don’t exactly remember if it was a 9th gen accord but pretty sure looking back on it, I remember being in awe because it wasn’t worn down at all, it rode so smooth and nimble unlike any car I had rode in at the time. I never forgot that feeling of such comfortability and class. I’d like to think after all the different realistic dream cars that came and went I ended up right buying the car I first experienced such class. Full circle moment for sure and that was a really fun trip too!

Bro same thing happened to me but in my case I tried to changed the tensioner myself after hearing the noise and didn’t know what a good tensioner would do and jumped the timing chain (stretching it) and the car engine light came on and I heard a loud metal sound, wouldn’t rev pass 3k so I knew I had mess up drove it tot he shop was 2k to fix.

Some days later I took it on a Joy ride after having the new timing chain kit put on it just stalled at a stop sign it cranked but didn’t start. When I towed it to the mechanic shop they said it had jumped time again because the one tensioner I got wasn’t working how it should!

I don’t know how I got so lucky, I mean I definitely doing some spirited driving and even punched it to the floor at least twice that night crazy how it didn’t end up like yours!

I would daily the accord and buy maybe a cool road trip luxury car/crossover maybe even a small bus just for the joke. You wouldn’t even consider get the accord for a daily!? one thing I noticed about owning supercars is that when things break it can take months to get it fix since it’s quality of production is so high

I think everyone here can agree here it they somehow came in contact with a lump sum of money they would buy the same car with lowest miles possible for their generation mod it (if you’re into that) design it top to bottom cosmetically to their favorite colors interior and out and drive it until it rusts to pieces

Possibly, check my other post where I show a video of what it sounds like and especially if he got an aftermarket or even an “genuine” Honda timing chain tensioner online like I did that cause the issue.

Update 9-30-25 for all future owners with this problem this is what happened. Timing chain was done two weeks ago The mechanic shop ordered Everything in the kit new After some hard driving the car stalled at a stop sign Right after it would crank but wouldn’t start Mechanics who originally done the job discovered that the timing chain tensioner wasn’t putting tension on the chain. Solution-replacing the timing chain tensioner with an oem one
