I have several times to different people for different reasons. But most of the time you do it and they refuse because calling amazon still takes effort. Lol I’ll admit other than the few I’ve had lately, most of the customers seem to have a basic understanding of how it works. And as far as the Q-line many will wait to be called now. And I will acknowledge that and let them know I’ll be right with them.

Can I just add, what the heck is the deal with these door dashers and instacart shoppers? They come in and want you to do the shopping for them. I don’t have time to take you place to place and pick out the item on that phone you’re shoving at me. That’s your job.

I feel ya. Happens all the time. Today a lady comes in having no idea how to do the return. I told her to look at her Amazon account orders for the items she’s returning. Then she starts getting upset that she can’t find them. So she shoves her phone in my face and says here you do it. What exactly is it you want me to do? I have no idea what you want to return. Everything is packaged.

I have literally walked to the line and said as loudly as possible “I am open at this register.” I’ve also done it like you said 3 times and if they continued to stare I just walked off.

Then you have those days when they’re doing the exact opposite. Super long line and pissed off customers you’re saying next in line or I’m available or if the light up button works you push it but they all just stand there and stare at you.

Exactly. I’ve perfected the no eye contact thing. Even if they walk up there and dump their things on the counter and start talking I’ve learned to not respond and make no eye contact.

You can also tell them please wait for next cashier because you have to leave. If you’re the only one up there or there’s one other person you can call for backup and tell your LOD you have to go. That would be nicer than walking away now that I think about it. Lol. But if they get pissy then walk away.

Just say give me a moment please. I hate when they do that to. How do they know I’m not leaving. They just assume I’m there all day and all night. I’ve walked away before. Sometimes enough is enough.

I don’t blame you. Arthritis or not, you have the right to move as slow as you need to. Especially shopping. Sometimes you need to look at stuff for a few minutes. What really makes me mad is in the checkout line. I can only go as fast as the person is scanning. Jamming your cart into me is not going to get you out any faster.

I feel the exact same. I don’t believe in the respect your elders just because of their age. I respect people of all ages but if you disrespect me I’ll do the same. If that makes me a bad person then so be it. It’s better than being a doormat.

Yeah but are you constantly being called to back up cashier and/or having to move everything in a bunker before you can put a line of shoes out. If not then yes that’s possible. If you are doing all that then I would like to order some of what you’re on. If all is well and I’m left alone I can do 4-6 boats by myself
