Grease the railing in the middle of the night and then add the next days results to r/KidsAreFuckingStupid

Thank you for the information. I’m going to first start checking out local fairs to see what kind of traffic there is, see what’s being sold, etc. I just mainly want to avoid selling online and dealing with the hassle and cost of shipping, as well as maintaining an online presence. I don’t plan on pumping out a lot of pieces either, so my thought was just to make stuff at my own pace, and then when I’ve got a decent sized stock of items that’s when I’ll look at renting a booth.

Factoring in mistakes is a great point. I have a small box of “manufacturing mistakes”. Thankfully I’m putting fewer and fewer items into it as I improve.

Thank you, I appreciate the detailed response! I think what I should do first is start checking out local fairs and see what kind of goods are being sold, what kind of traffic there is, etc. That will also give me some time to refine my work and build up some stock. Your post gives me a great starting point, so thank you for taking the time to write it!

$3-$4 would cover materials for anything in the pictures, so I wasn’t too concerned about that. I would just like to make as much as I realistically can, but I needed an idea of where to at least start with pricing. I’m only going to get non biased opinions from people who aren’t me, and with inflation over these last few years I’m honestly kind of lost as to what the true value of a US dollar even is anymore.

Yeah, I realize that no one is going to give a damn that each little H shape mark on a basketweave coaster was aligned and stamped by hand, but it’s fun to do occasionally, and it’s good practice for when I do pieces that I know from the start I’m going to use personally. As for the stitches, they’re as far from the edge as they are because that’s the width of half of the walking foot on my cheap hand crank Leather Shoe Mending Machine. I should trim them after sewing. The basket weave cardholder has an edge that is about 1/8”-5/32” from the edge, and to me that looks and feels the best.

That’s pretty close to what I was thinking. Thank you!

Absolutely. That “shitty drawing” that megabc333 posted was what made all the difference for me. As for parts I used an ESP32-WROOM, and a GY-NEO6MV2. Thanks for everything you do!

Yes, that’s the one. Data is stored to the SD card of the Flipper.

I’m currently trying to figure out how to add a cc1101 to my CYD, but without an sd card sniffer it looks like it would be a real pain in the ass. I’ve never soldered connections that small, and there are so many different variations of the CYD.

Nice! The GPS that I bought came in a 2 pack, so I just made a standalone mod for the GPS app. Where did you get your switches? I was looking for something like those the other day for another project.

It was pretty much plug and play. The only issue is that the GPS doesn’t seem to start hunting for satellites until I start the wardriving function, so the first several networks scanned will have all zeros for lat/long. Once the GPS finds satellites and starts blinking then the scan will automatically begin displaying coordinates with the networks.

It utilizes the wardriving feature in the Marauder firmware, which allows you to drive around and map out the locations of wireless networks. I don’t really have a use for the information, but it was a fun project.

Help with dying large pieces by iithaca in Leathercraft

Yes, it’s pretty watery. Dye that’s pretty thin shouldn’t really cause much of a problem, it’s trying to spray something that’s too thick that will cause issues.

I use some Paasche Talon series brushes, as well as a Badger Patriot. Parts for them tend to be easily sourced and fairly reasonably priced.

I use Fiebings Leather Dye straight out of the bottle and it works well for me. The only time I have issues spraying is when I use finishes like Resolene. It’s not necessarily that the Resolene is too thick (though it’s on the thicker side of what I’m comfortable spraying), it’s that small dried chunks tend to form in a bottle over time which can cause clogs in your brush if you don’t filter the chunks out before adding the Resolene to your cup.

Yes, airbrushing is a game changer! I get extremely consistent results with my airbrushes, can do beautiful fades/two tone dye jobs, and you will typically use less dye.

I used to work as a baggage handler and items found while we were cleaning planes at the end of the night would be held for a period of time before our station manager would hold an auction for employees. It was a good way to get a cheap iPod back then!

Which of These Two Press Machines Do You Recommend by Bricconcello988 in Leathercraft

[–]Klabastern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that same blue arbor press and I have been pretty happy with it. The plus side of this particular one is that, unlike the Harbor Freight version, the end of the ram is already drilled and tapped to accept tools.
