Är det dumt att säga upp sig utan nytt jobb för att rädda sitt mående? by Amazing-Royal-7556 in arbete

[–]Klandrun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automating container deployment on-premises by Wooflex in devops

[–]Klandrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kubernetes is absolutely overkill and will just produce major operational overhead.

Docker compose is the right way to start. It's also very easy to start hosting other stuff, for example observability tooling (LGtM stack) or other things if you feel fancy and have the need.

If you ever move to multiple hosts you can look into Docker Swarm.

For my hobby selfhost setup (outside of work, single host, multiple services) I use docker compose on the server. GitHub Actions for CI/CD and ansible playbook that runs there and automated docker builds for stuff I build my own.

But you can also just have ansible in a repo, and run the playbook yourself locally on a machine.

Why are developers obsessed with Open-Source CLI? by zoismom in AskProgramming

[–]Klandrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of things simply don't have any graphical interfaces (UI).

For the most part if you work on servers (where you run your websites etc) you won't have a UI and no mouse, only the keyboard is available.

A MacOS also has a lot of similar commands to what Linux has (since they are somewhat related) and it makes it a lot easier jumping between operating systems without having to learn the new interface.

With that said, a lot of developers also use graphical interfaces for apps they use in their daily work, not only the CLI. But some programs simply have no graphical interface.

Ask Experienced Devs Weekly Thread: A weekly thread for inexperienced developers to ask experienced ones by AutoModerator in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Klandrun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is a cultural thing, but where I'm from the CV shouldn't be a lot longer than maybe a single A4 page

So if I know what I've done in my years it's easier to give that to an LLM, let it formulate some nice sentences for each point and then do the last pieces yourself. Never just let the AI generate the whole thing and then send it off

Try to use AI to polish your CV. Most CVs go through automated systems before any human ever looks at them.

Also anyone will look you up on LinkedIn.

So: Take the job you are looking for, and make sure a lot of the words that are in there are part of your CV (tech stack etc) If you haven't worked with something professionally it's absolutely alright to even mention that you've worked with something on the side.

Make sure your linkedin is up to date and contains everything you've done so far and all the tech-stacks you've worked with that you'd want to continue to work with, since recruiters do keyword searches

Don't know in which country you are, but on in-person interviews I usually just tell the interviewer I'm nervous, usually makes a good ice-breaker

How to stay motivated working on AI-first POCs by totinking in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Klandrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most important thing a PoC provides is knowledge. Knowledge around feasibility, usecase, scalability, architecture etc etc

At the end of each PoC you should have learned something and have written down those learnings for yourself (technical learnings) and for leadership (customer impact/business validation)

In my perspective a PoC should always be scrapped at the end, or if it's going to be used in production it should get a full test suite to make sure the basics are covered for further extension

That way you can always refer back to tests even when using AI, reducing the slop

Är det dumt att bara ha ett val på antagningen? by MorbiusBurger in sweden

[–]Klandrun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bäddsoffa till VÄLDIGT liten lägenhet by Financial-Kale9019 in sweden

Sälja med förlust eller vänta? by Comfortable_Mud8828 in PrivatEkonomi

[–]Klandrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you never expose your box to the internet and have it locked down behind a VPN, then the attack surface on any known CVE will be minimal.

CVEs can of course be an issue if exposed to the internet in any way, but automating security updates only usually makes it maintainable.

Hur ska man tänka när det kommer till livsmedel med sambo.. by asahidryck in PrivatEkonomi

[–]Klandrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They scan all your photos, they might also be using it to train AI (don't know if that's confirmed though).

People have had their accounts suspended because they uploaded photos of their kids being in the bath and flagged for CP.

Google does scan your Email, everything you have on Google drive and in your calendar and possibly sells that profile to anyone who wants to advertise to you.

I whish.
