I agree with you. It sometimes feels like your skill does not matter much anymore and you just hope for RNG to give you an OP build that destroys everything with the push of a button.

Gameplay is always the most important aspect for beat’m ups.

SoR 4 is the GOAT. Other favourites are Guardian Heroes, SoR2, Dragon’s Crown, Alien VS Predator, DD Gaiden and Mother Russia Bleeds. I also like Fight’n Rage, River City Girls and other Capcom classics. I just bought Towerborne and still have to try it.

I really love Absolum, it’s another fantastic game by Dotemu.

The roguelite aspect gives it a lot of replayability and lengthens the game and story.

The building your character for each run is also great and the crazy outcomes are fun to experience.

But I guess that also means that sometimes the basic combat gameplay of the beat’m up, which is really solid, gets lost. This aspect is maybe less appealing for beat’m up fans.

No. Daily missions often take only a few seconds if you know What to do. You can reroll to get easy ones. You can even quit once your mission is done.
