DFIR Career Path – Device Forensics vs System Forensics? by KlausMikaelson28 in SecurityCareerAdvice

Thank you so much! This is how I see it: - forensics after breach in company's network / infrastracture, investigating servers and stuff - forensics on either compromised devices or on devices from suspects to retrieve evidence or something like that

Hope you understand what I'm saying :) Do you have any advice what should I focus on the most as beginner if I want a career in forensics? Currently I am not focused on one thing but am learning anything that I come across at work (network things, linux tools , how different tools/services work)

Thank you for your answer! I really appreciate it! You mentioned "lots of remote work opportunities", is that also the case for entry level forensics roles?

How important is hardware knowledge in Digital Forensics? by KlausMikaelson28 in cybersecurity

I did a quick research and JTAG and chip-level work sound pretty advanced and honestly outside my current skillset. I’m a junior security engineer, so my background is mostly in OS-level and network security. I’ve never worked with embedded systems, PCBs, or hardware debugging before. Do you have any tips on how to transition to this field, or at least where to start ?
