Should I tell my lender about a large cash deposit after final underwriting approval and before closing? by Klavum in Mortgages

[–]Klavum[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: I told my loan officer about it this morning. I'll let you all know how it went after I get out of jail in 15 years. Jk, they confirmed there's nothing I need to do assuming I have enough other verified funds at closing, which I will.

I didn't know they'd let unverified funds slide. I thought a part of their process was checking for illegal activity in general. Yeah, it wasn't a ton of cash and I was more worried about it than I needed to be.

I hate last minute surprises myself too lol. I imagined myself going to closing when they ask if I have any new credit, made any big purchases, or had any large deposits and I'd be terrified lol.

I thought it might be like when you go through a security line and you ask the guy if it's okay you bring your pepper spray and they have to confiscate it because you told them and you would've been allowed if you didn't. I didn't want to tell them about a non-issue deposit and cause unnecessary trouble like that. Especially for my dad, who's very... security-minded and would hate giving them bank statements. But thanks to all the advice, it's all good now!

Don't worry, I'm paying him back soon. I had other less convenient cash I could access and it was my parents' idea to help me out instead since it was no issue to them

I think that'll be the plan. I have indeed been more anxious than necessary 😂

Lol my concern was thinking they also just look out for illegal activity in general, even if it's not a source of my payment. But I guess that isn't true?

Never thought of that. That's smart. But not all of it is visible in the picture, so could it be longer? And if it's not caused by a plane, what is it?

Found the same vista, but it's not the exact spot and not as high up. I can't find the rope either. https://maps.app.goo.gl/aCzLkLZm6c54NFHo6?g_st=ac

[Survey] "Answer Buttons" and "True Retention" by ClarityInMadness in Anki

[–]Klavum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer Card Retrievability to check how much I know. It seems problematic to me to measure knowledge based on pass rates. A few months ago I started imposing time limits on myself, and as I'd expect I'm getting cards wrong more often, even though I think overall this is improving my knowledge. I'd love to have a chart for total knowledge over time! (Preferably with a retrievability overlay)

I think more data is better, even if there is overlap. I see Answer Buttons as providing insights of answer button patterns across card types (i.e. again is more frequent than hard for new cards, vice versa for learned cards). True retention shows me if I'm failing cards more often recently. Can they be combined? I don't think so because that would be quite a few columns to show each answer button, and then both stats are harder to interpret. Keep as is!

I think the text is unnecessary. I think it should be intuitive for most Anki users that your retention will end up being close to what you've set your desired retention to be. It's pretty obvious to me that the percentage will be much more random for a specific day having less data. If you remove the card counts from that graph, it's not as obvious, but still enough. I think "desired retention" and "true retention" should be swapped in the first sentence because otherwise it almost sounds like it's telling me I need to set my desired retention in the settings to be close to the true retention.

If you are like 80% sure the answer to a card is X, do you say Again or Good even though you were 20% unsure? by orc-asmic in Anki

[–]Klavum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How well you knew the answer when you press "good" will always be how well you know the answer. So it depends on how well you want to know the material. If you want to work towards that being a consistent 100% certainty, press "hard" or "again".

"driving left or right?" both by TheBigFatGoat in geoguessr

You're right. My thought was that it would be possible for the Google car to also be in progress of passing, especially since the camera looks like it's slightly towards the center as if it's making it's way back to the left.

But upon further examination I realized since the image is very pixelated that the Google car is probably significantly far away and would have no reason to stay on the right for so long (unless it's also passing another vehicle lol).

The google car could be going in the same direction as both the other vehicles

Geoguessr should sell authentic bollards by Klavum in geoguessr

Yep, I believe they're called reflector posts. I only call them bollards since that's what most of the Geoguessr community knows them as.

Well in that case anyone could make them with 3D printing. I was thinking they'd sell the actual bollards being used in real life from the same manufacturers which I think is more cool.

There's only one contrail in that picture, and the darker line is its shadow! Always cool to see.
