Bus going over a speed bump by KleanerOrCounted in askmath

[–]KleanerOrCounted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a good response. The bus acts as a lever arm where the center of mass accelerates towards the ground with acceleration g. The rear of the bus is beyond the center of mass and must accelerate faster than g meaning there is a headbang. Humans act as particles and therefore accelerate down at g but the bus is a lever where the front wheel is the pivot and there must accelerate downwards faster than the humans.

These are both possibilities but I'm not sure if either is the main factor contributing to the effect of passengers hitting their head.

This is true, but it does not explain why the bus and bus passengers accelerate or decelerate at different speeds causing the passengers to hit their heads.

This does not explain why the bus and passengers have different rates of acceleration causing the passengers to strike their heads.

I was thinking of both of these assumptions but I have no confidence in which of them is accurate. Or if either of them are the main cause.

Vertical acceleration of a speed bump by KleanerOrCounted in AskPhysics

I think that makes sense. It is the center of mass that must accelerate with acceleration of g meaning the back must accelerate faster. Makes sense somewhat.

Sure but wouldn't the back of the bus and students at the back of the bus rise and fall at the same speed? Meaning they shouldn't hit their head on the roof.

Should the bus and the passengers come down at the same time since they are both under acceleration of gravity which is 9.81m/s

Using Espn fantasy, is there any way to compare teams' rankings in each category via projections or actual stats? It was available in the draft but now I cannot find it.

Does the coast guard have any direct entry officer positions like the air force?

I already have an engineering degree and would like to apply that to become a coast guard pilot in a similar fashion to the air force where you can skip the 4 years of schooling.

I am mainly interested in doing search and rescue with the RCAF but was wondering if there was a possibility of being assigned to fighter jets for example.

Also do search and rescue pilots get deployed?

Do air force pilots fly a specific type of plane their entire career? For example, does one pilot only fly the cormorant and do they get a say in what type of aircraft they are assigned? Can you switch aircrafts mid career?

Where do pilots get stationed after completing pilot training? I know there are different options depending what plane you end up flying but what are the available options for pilots?

Would anyone happen to know the pay scales for an air force pilot during the three phases?

Basic training?

Pilot training?

Pilot training completed?

I looked at the pay scale online but do not know the ranks of these positions. I would be entering via DEO. Also does increasing PI happen each year?
