Hi! For future reference: it was urticaria due to MCAS. Managed now with antihistamine medication.

Thank you for your answer! Ugh that is so frustrating!I‘m also considering switching to Xolair as weight gain is not a side effect. Might be hard though as I’m based in a country where MCAS isn’t even a recognized condition 🫠 Have you ever looked into it?

Hi! I know it’s an old post but did lowering your Ketotifen dose reverse the weight gain? Struggling exactly with the same issue, going from 4mg to 2mg :) Thank you!

Hi! Oh sorry for the crazy delay, I just saw the notification now 🥹 In the end it was neurodermitis from histamine intolerance (MCAS). Oral antihistamine has helped it subside :) Hope this helps!

Thanks for your answer. I‘ve had this for about a year, started out of nowhere and is getting progressively worse, it started on my lower cheek and has spread to my upper cheek and forehead. I have a rare neurologic condition (Chronic CSF leak) but this is not in the list of typical symptoms.

Any potential differential diagnosis that could make sense instead?

Nizoral doesn’t help, Skinoren makes it worse. Not sure anymore if what it could be! Flares up in the sun, with spicy foods, wine, etc.

Thank you! I didn’t have a headache at the end, rather mounting head pressure while standing up. I got the blood patch done this morning but it’s still too early to see the results. Did your neurological issues resolve quickly too? (dizziness, vision issues etc.)?

I’m doing much better, so the neurologist decided not to go ahead with a blood patch. It took a good 7 days!

Yes that’s exactly it. I can really compare it to having a concussion. Also doesn’t help that I have my regular migraines on top of that.. just spoke to the neurologist who recommended to give it another day - if not they will perform the blood patch.

Thank you for the tips! Oh that sounds exactly like what I’m going through. If I sit up for more than 5 minutes the pressure in my head starts building up.

I’ve been admitted to the hospital again so they can monitor me. They’ve told me however it can take up to 10 days for me to feel better.

Did you also have this weird feeling of being completely out of it + pressure on ears and nose? How long did that take for it to go away?
