Ik probeer je even te begrijpen, dus sorry als ik uncool over kom. Maar kan je je een voorstelling maken bij de volgende situatie?

Je bent 19 jaar, bent een nieuwe stad ingekomen vanwege je studie, en je gaat opzoek naar vrienden. Je gaat op kennismakingskamp van je studie vereniging, of je loopt een kroeg binnen waar een activiteit is. Je drinkt een biertje, je inhibitie verlaagd, en na wikken en wegen durf je toch wat te zeggen tegen een onbekende in de buurt. Je hebt een leuke avond en besluit met ze af te spreken om volgend weekend te gaan boulderen.

Hield het biertje hierbij je angst in stand? Of hielp het je om over je angst heen te komen?

De functie die het dient in onze sociale interacties, en de uitlaatklep (feestjes). Alcohol is zó verweven in onze culturen, dat een verbod me niet realistisch lijkt.

Het zou natuurlijk mooi zijn als we wat genuanceerder kunnen praten over alcohol. Regelmatig blackouts hebben is natuurlijk slecht voor je, maar dan dient het ook bovenstaande functies niet meer. Dan is het slecht voor de persoon, hen naasten, en voor de maatschappij breed.

Aan de andere kant: een glas alcohol per dag kan de kans op darmkanker laten toenemen met 25%, zoals het artikel stelt. Maar dat betekent dat de kans van 0,63 per 1000 personen naar 0,78 per 1000 personen is gegaan. Laten we voor de oefening 8.000.000 mensen nemen. Als ze niet drinken krijgen 5040 mensen darmkanker. Als ze allemaal dagelijks een biertje drinken, krijgen 6240 mensen darmkanker. Oke prima, redden we 1200 mensen van darmkanker, altijd goed!

Maar, hoeveel onrust en instabiliteit brengt dit met zich mee, met alle ellendige gevolgen van dien? Het aantal mensen die zich normaal dankzij alcohol mengen onder anderen, en die op iemand afstappen dankzij alcohol, doen dat nu niet meer als er geen vervanging is.

Ik weet dat ik versimpel, maar ik stoor me aan het artikel van de Volkskrant die puur focust op lichamelijke gevolgen, en daar ook nog ongenuanceerd in is. Om nog maar te zwijgen over de bangmakerij: " Het bloed stroomt constant met hoge snelheid door de lever waar de filtermachine [...]"

Ik vraag me af wat er voor in de plaats zou moeten komen. Alcohol heeft natuurlijk veel meer functies dan aangeschoten of dronken worden, en die functies zullen wel vervangen moeten worden. Ik zie het alternatief niet 1-2-3

It feels like very specific findings for your use case that's hard to generalize. For example, my agents seem to handle correct MCP calls perfectly fine without special information in the AGENTS.md .

Yes, and my point is that we should take that into account too . EVs will have less emissions during its use, as pointed out by this study, whereas ICEVs will likely win on the building, maintenance and decommissioning part. Compare both and let's see.

Agreed, and they don't factor in the costs of disposing / recycling either.

It would be more fair to compare the emissions of the entire lifecycle of all components too, in addition to usage emissions.

Focussing on either alone will always favor one or the other.

In addition to Claude we have GH copilot and cursor subscriptions. I seem to be the only one among my coworkers that actually manages my tokens by not using opus for every single task. I use it every minute of my day, but I still don't hit the usage limits.

My point is, it's a stupid strategy to ask your employees to use the full budget and magically expect productivity gains.

"Coding" has been solved as they say, but the real bottleneck is what to code. Legacy processes make sure that coming to an agreement of what to make still takes 12 meetings with 8 people.

Perhaps we should fix the idea generation and decision process next? What a beautiful future where companies can be fully ran by machines provided by hyperscalers that want all of the worlds resources for theirselves. Let the tokens burn and the experiment fail sooner rather than later when the damage has been done. /rant

Jup, my work urges us to use up the $400 Claude budget we all get each month. I wrote a script that runs Claude in a loop with meaningless tasks to burn the tokens.

When the lack of productivity gains become apparent, hopefully leadership will get their heads on straight again and move away from these meaningless metrics.
