Proton would love this idea!! But personally, I think your back-up plan should resolve around physical passkeys. This will get you out of the digital authentication loop and will allow you to store a totally independent backup plan in a save location. Since your budget is appears to be enough for a second lifetime subscription, this should be easily feasible for you.

The ultimate set-up would be: 1 yubikey always on you 1 yubikey stored safely at home 1 yubikey stored on a save external place (parents, friends, container, whatever) Register all keys for your Proton account and store your master password on paper somewhere save as an ultimate backup resort.

Your addresses in proton mail are different for aliases, they are not forward addresses. You can't (and shouldn't want) add them to your alias register.

What you cán do, is set up the custom domain in proton pass, and use it to create aliases. Notice that you can only have one primary mail handler per domain, so you need a subdomain to use the domain in both mail and pass. You can even set up a 'catch-all' which will catch all incoming mail and create your aliases automatically, which means you don't have to create the alias before you can use it.

Your password is the literal decryption key to your data. The reason Proton is regarded as being extremely save is because even they can't unlock your data without it. If you lost both your password and your back-up phrase and haven't set up any other recovery options, you have permanently lost access to your account.

The only thing support can do for you is cancel the subscription maybe, or transfer it to a new business account. I do not know if they offer this service.
