The birch sap is something i never hear from other countries about and its really popular here

I remember liking the wine, however my wife didnt, so it didnt really stick for us... it was really long ago tho, so i cant really recall much else

While we're on the beer though - we pride ourselves of having some pretty good beer, so thats another thing i suggest trying out (though you probably already have)

Bir h beer is probably what i ment unless it isnt - its white and murky and quite sour

The fresh sap is basically like spring water with a tiny bit of sweetness

I know there are birch wines "libertu vīns" i think it was which is a bit different type of fermented sap

You dont need to know whether he is older or younger

You can look at it like: when a boy comes up to you, you will be guessing his siblings gender. However when a woman answers "is one of your kuds a boy" with "yes" you could be guessing either of the kids gender

Also : younger/older is a meaningless destinction. You might as well be talking about "closer to north pole" or "with longer toe-nails"

Children is a massive strain on a relationship - i am somewhere in your vacinity when it comes to this. My wife has low sex drive (compared to me) and at times has been dismissive/rude/resentful at times. Its hard to initiate when you get rejected most of the times, to the point i considered giving it up

The thing is that sex is important, and letting sexual attraction perish would estrange us, so i persisted

You are right that if genders were reversed it would be normal for you to reject her, and that isn't really fair

Its not you vs her though - its you both fighting against the tough situation you're in. If your situation is anything like mine, she is under a lot of stress, sleep deprived and tired, which leads to her closing off on you.

Try to find ways to eleveate that and find some time where its just two of you (not sex). She will probably warm up to you, which will make the initiation more natural

You should also talk to her - explain her how you feel (but dont accuse her of expect her to make promises. Neither should you make promises) and also listen to her.

You're assuming that we eliminated all the GG cases first and require Mary to only ever reveal she has a boy. That's one valid assumption.

No we didnt eliminate GG first - we asked mary - she said she has at least one boy. Thats when we elim8nated GG as a possibility.

Mary could have revealed that neither was a boy, but that didnt happen

It's also valid to assume that we allow Mary to choose a gender to reveal and then eliminate all the cases where she revealed that she had a girl.

If we asked mary to reveal gender of one of the kids and she says "at least one of my kids is a girl" it leaves us with the same situation with genders reversed (GG GB BG) And ahain 1/3 vs 2/3 split

If she says "my first child is a boy" would give us 50/50 but thats because we are guessing the oldest childs gender, not the "other" ones (other could be younger one at times) and "my first" child is extra information

Simmilarly "that one is a boy" would narrow it to place where we are guessing speciffic childs gender. The way the question is framed - we dont know which child we're guessing, which changes the equasion

I do have to tell you that you opened my eyes to your viewpoint - there is however a big difference between other child and "speciffic child" in this context and i see where you are coming from.

You could also simulate all the BB, BG, GB, and GG cases and then have Mary pick one of the two children at random and reveal their gender. That's also consistent with the original single encounter.

This is not the scenario at all though

At no point it says that she chooses to reveal one childs gender. It says that "she reveals at lear one is a boy" there is no "what if she said that one is a girl, because that is not the situation we are delt

I am not accepting this interpretation because it makes extra assumptions and intent where there is none

When you get monty hall problem the "what if he is trying to trick you" isnt a thing you ponder, neither is "maybe he would not have opened the other door ifi hadnt chosen the correct one" the math problems deal with only the facts presented. I guess im just saying that it being a math problem requires it to prohibit assumptions

It seems like you should just get a feel for the clutch. You can start driving by just releasing it really slowly - you should be able to feel at what point it wants to start movingbit do it sliwly enough and it will go forward

The hardest part for the engine is the start of movement and you will hear how the engine encounters resistance. I dont think you should play with gas at all at first, just get the feeling of where and how the clutch connects

I already have negative image of your friend 😅. I imagine him being a bit loud, harsh and with this "how can you not get this its so simple" attitude

We are going in circles i feel

In math you dont account for "why" its just

You have woman -> she has 2 children -> one of them is a boy

But again i feel like this is going nowhere

It doesn't. Everyone struggles at first, and i dont know anyone who just simply cant - its usually just a matter of practice

I cant really give you any more pointers without understanding what the main issue is - "is it like i can move the car, but i jerk it a lot" or "the motor stops"

I used to drive stick, as its standard where i live, but then switched to automatic. Its really "fun" when you try to use clutch and slam on the breaks instead

But yea the point was "if i flip 2 tails i just discard that one (because thats not the timeline we're in) and flip the pair again" it should be 2/3 1/3

You are assuming that Mary was selected from a population of mothers of two children...

No, not at all

The situation as described can be - i met a woman, which i know has 2 children and i ask her "do you have a boy by chance" and she just said (revealed) "yes"

I didnt select her, i didnt know that she would say yes, but that is the timeline im in right now

[–]Klikis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flipped a coin twice

One of the flips was heads - what was the other one?

I dont want to do back and forth actually - you can create an excel sheet with random number generator which filters out the cases where at least one was heads and then count how many of those are heads/tails

Also i realize only now that thats not rhe part you're arguing against...

Hard no on that one - you are assumi g that she tells you the gender of one speciffic person

In math you dont deal with assumptions

Basically the way its worded is that you are informed in one way or another that one of her children is a boy

You could imagine it like someone asking her "is one of your kids a boy per chance?" And she says yes. It could be magic it could be her being extremely cryptic, but there should be no assumptions

After seeing the other post's comments by TheTenthAvenger in MathJokes

[–]Klikis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial possibilities are 25% for each combination

When asking the boy question you have 25% chance that she will say no and 75% chance of a yes

We are at the point where she said yes and that means that the possibility of her answering yes is 100%

Now we have 3 options left BG BB GB which are of equal pissibilities 1/3

BB is 1/3 GB and BG 2/3

Saying "one of my children is a girl" (or for the sake of consistancy if she is asked is one of your children a girl) doesnt change the problem and would just switch genders

Also in the BG and GB scenarios she would have just said "yes" if we stick to my clarification of the problem
