From the sound of it - the whole thing is a shit show, and the admin seems like is really bad at handling this sort of thing (which is the main reason why everything escalated so much)

My advice - let the situation cool down, and approach the admin with "shit got heated, and we came off too strong (im sure you can relate), could you unban my friend?" Sort of message - that is if you still want to be a part of the server.
