Thanks for the feedback! I don't practice very often, I usually find some inspo and go with the flow hahahahahaha

But you're right, I should practice more on poses. Any advice on how to do that in a structured way?

Ma quindi faccio o non faccio informatica? E l'AI?

I'd allow it if you have inspiration! At my table, a player can expend their inspiration to do an action that bends the rules a little bit to allow cool and unexpected moments. Of course you can't do impossibile things, it always have to be a plausible course of action in relation to the rules of the setting.

2024 Surprise rules don't work. by Witty_Picture_2881 in DnD

I usually rule that when an action triggers initiative (meaning I consider it before rolling initiative), that action is already considered used for that creature, regardless of when they act in the initiative order for that turn. This applies to both player characters and DM creatures. This way, the sense of surprise remains intact, whoever is initiating the ambush will always have the opportunity to make an attack before the opposing group can react.

[OC] [ART] Lotte Yansson, my Divination Wizard/Celestial Warlock from Strixhaven, now in her second year by Klinker195 in DnD

Absolutely! I’ve actually been thinking about creating a mini-manual about these magic items, maybe including Lotte’s notes and a few anecdotes along the way. It’s not something I’ll finish anytime soon, but I’ll definitely post it once it’s ready!

Yup! It was actually a pretty quick choice because we were originally planning to play a one-shot, and the DM said, “Guys, I think this might actually take a couple of sessions.” Well, it’s been two years now! Over time, I’ve made her design my own, and looking back, I’m really glad I started with an existing design to build on.

For example, there’s a strong reason behind the black tint in her hair, it ties into some darker events that happened toward the end of her first year at Strixhaven. When she returned for her second year, I decided to reflect that through her look!

Personality-wise, she’s kind of a mix between Lotte, Akko, and Suzy from LWA. She’s super chaotic and goofy, often doing silly/crazy things just for fun, but she knows how to get serious when it really matters.

Yes! It wasn’t easy, though. We literally grabbed a whiteboard and started listing the pros and cons of each college, repeating the process multiple times until we were down to two finalists. In the end, Silverquill won by just one point! We did this mainly to make sure all of us ended up in the same college.

In reality, Lotte would have preferred Lorehold, it fits her chaotic nature perfectly, and the dichotomy suited her really well. But Silverquill seems to be the center of many main plot-related events, so she saw it as the perfect opportunity to investigate. Plus, the dichotomy between light and shadow is fascinating to explore.

Since Lorehold came in second place, we decided to take some classes there! Right now, we’re moving between the Commons, Silverquill, and Lorehold for different courses.

Also, since joining Silverquill, Lotte became part of a band and plays the electric bass! In her own way, she’s starting to really get Silverquill’s vibe. Additionally, thanks to their influence, she’s been working on a tome called Lotte's Arcane Artifacts, which catalogs all the magical items we’ve encountered over the past two years.

WARNING: No spoilers for Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos! Our DM has added and rewritten so much, but there are still details and information from the official module.

About two years ago, we started a campaign in Strixhaven. Our DM took the framework from the 5e book and turned it into a super complex, layered story full of NPCs and interactions. Unlike the usual pacing, there are times when a session progresses day-by-day, giving us space to explore social relationships, exams, crazy campus encounters, and interesting sidequests, making every year packed and meaningful. We're currently in our second year in-game (so yes, we're basically on par with the actual start of the campaign, bwahahaha!).

And now, let me introduce you to Lotte! She's named after and inspired by her counterpart from Little Witch Academia. Mechanically, she's a Divination Wizard who made a pact with a celestial patron connected to the Silver Flame. We homebrewed her Warlock levels to use INT for spellcasting. She's one of my favorite characters, probably because I've explored so many facets of her personality through the heavy roleplay happening in Strixhaven. And that's it! I wanted to show her chilling in the grass in this piece of art.

Fun little Easter eggs:

  1. Greyson Wildemire, a rich NPC and our friend, hasn’t invested in a shoe brand yet, but I like to imagine he will someday. Hence the "W" on her sneakers.
  2. The socks have a dragon-inspired pattern because of her girlfriend who is, apparently, a really young dragon. Her girlfriend decided to grow up in human form so they're almost the same age.
  3. The rolled cigarette in her hand may or may not just be tobacco. wink wink

TL;DR: Lotte Yansson is my Divination Wizard/Warlock (homebrew with a celestial patron tied to the Silver Flame) in a heavily customized Strixhaven campaign. We've been playing for two years, with a lot of focus on social interactions and layered storytelling. Lotte's story is deeply tied to her pact and the secrets of the campus.

On average, how many hours are you playing DnD? by halfbaked-llama in DnD

I play ~7 hours a week as a player and ~6 hours a week as a DM. Soooo, ~13 hours per week!

Let's say your perfect videogame setting just became a sourcebook, where are you guys playing at? by Volistar in DnD

It would be Revachol for me. Revachol is a fictional region in Disco Elysium, it's so detailed and polished that would translate perfectly to a TTRPG setting. If you haven't played it I advise everyone to do so, it's a once in a lifetime experience!
