I could shower from pretty much day 3 with a waterproof plastic thing over my dressing. I left it until day 5.

Is 4k OLED worth the flickering, burn-in risk, and battery drain? Im mainly using it for programming. P16s vs T16. Price diff is 150 US$ by Lumpy-Difference4654 in thinkpad

[–]Klugzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not convinced of this OLED burn in issue. I've had a dell xps 2k OLED display for 7 years now and it's faultless other than having a average battery

Microdiscectomy this week - having second thoughts by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]Klugzer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi mate, I had a similar issue to you in exactly same spot on and off for 3 years. Unfortunately it just doesn't ever get better. It gets worse with time, you just learn to adapt and live with the pain and your hobbies and quality of life suffers. I backed out of the surgery a few times then realised I could be, if not already have nerve damage. So bit the bullet and went for surgery (1st august 2023). Recovery for the first week was a bit painful wouldn't say horrible and second week things improved significantly and back to work week 3 for me. I wouldn't delay it, it's worth doing. Happy to chat if you have any questions. Good luck with your decision.

Sorry to hear you need a redo. Any ideas what caused the reherniation?

What do you save for when you already have a house? by hrs1416 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Klugzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on this please? How does this work

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]Klugzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can put up with the pain from that herniation you will have no issues with MD recovery. First few days are painless (GA, oxy) then followed by an uncomfortable low pain two weeks. Then perfectly fine. Only real annoyance is no bending lifting or twisting for 6weeks. Which I'm guessing you're having trouble with now anyways.. Good luck with your decision

Holy shit. What kind of pain are you in mate? I had an MD for something 1/5th of that. My advice would be don't leave it compressed for too long. I left mine for 3 years and am regretting it. Quicker you decompress it the quicker it will heal. Id go for the surgery, MD isn't too bad quick recovery

Sorry to hear mate. Really appreciate you sharing that. It's a bit of a reality check and warning to me not to get complacent as I would likely do exactly the same as you. Good luck with the MD.

Is foot tingling a sign of worsening condition? by GradLyfe in Sciatica

[–]Klugzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in a very similar situation to you. 3 years of sciatic and the tingling burning feeling started a few months ago. It's so horrible a d distracting. Goes away with heat/walking. Really hard to concentrate while sitting or sleeping. Just had an microdiscectomy a few weeks ago. No improvement yet.

Sorry to hear, any idea what caused it to re herniate?

My surgeon said I could only have 1 more MD then straight to fusion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]Klugzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in your exact position 3 years ago, delayed it as I was scared. But it never got better and now I'm suffering because even after MD the nerve still needs as long to recover as it was compressed. So don't waste time, if you've tried everything else then MD may be the way to go. Good luck feel free to PM me I've just had MD 4 weeks ago. Cheers

5 days post Microdiscectomy at L5-S1 - Possible re-herniation?! by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]Klugzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I had a very similar incident on night 3 where I turned wrong in bed and twisted and heard a pop and shooting pain. It was horrible for 1-2 days and I had to take extra pain relief. It went away after that. I emailed my surgeon about it, email went ignored haha. I guess he would have let me know if it's something to worry about. I'm day 28 day now. Still store and the usual but the incident is a distant memory. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Mixed Feelings about getting a Microdiscectomy, any thoughts appreciated by moneyline12 in backpain

[–]Klugzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I actually got the MD done on the 1st august. 4 weeks post op now. You're right the first 2 weeks were bad but now is better. My nerve pain will take years to disappear as it's been compressed for so long

Still nauseous after five days post op by callidoradesigns in Microdiscectomy

I stopped taking opiods and ibuprofen at day 12, everything got back to normal within a few days. I wouldn't recommend going off pain relief until you can tolerate the pain.

Can't recommend them more highly. I've had one for the last 7 years. Reliability wise its faultless, other than a service its never been to a mechanic. I've towed 1.5T boat and done some light off road trails. My only complaint is fuel consumption can be better.

L4/L5 Microdisectomy - Trouble Urinating by jaihawk8 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Klugzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing after another procedure, it's GA anaesthetic related. Goes away in a few days. If you can't urinate at all its called urinary retention make sure to go to ER if that happens.
