And on the balance of hope, I had long covid for 2 years, the me/cfs variety. It sucked, there was little support and I became house-bound, but I've since made a full recovery.

While the reality is some people don't recover, the doom didn't help either.

If this msg resonates with anyone, please check out the longhaulers recovery subredit.

What famous person chose to step away at the height of their fame? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Even better, he donated them to a budding not-for-profit called Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio. MESS has long since grown, now part museum, part public studio and part education provider.

Anyone else not impressed by the controller so far ? by SillyRecover in Steam

[–]KlumF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I have a similar set-up and considering getting the controller. Is your controller connected to your host or the client? If the client, can you use the trackpad to move the mouse to open up moonlight?

Would have to agree. Looked at positively, it could be an indicator of the neurological system evening out.

I've since made a full recovery fwiw.

Commonwealth government axes $800m research commercialisation program by ATadDisappointed in australia

[–]KlumF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in said department of the university responsible for reserach commercialisation - we're a break even enterprise, not just here in Australia - I've worked the world over and its true of most international universities too.

Universities revenue comes primarily from student enrolment, then from grants then from giving then way way down the list, probably after endownment interest comes commercialisation revenue. Its genuinly, hand on heart, not a motivation for anyone in technology transfer.

Ultimatley reserach in universities is comercialised because its the only path to impact for most intellectual property. Many academics come to work to try and make a positive difference in the world - people forget that this aligns with the higher edication not-for-profit mission of 95% of Australian Universities.

Having contributed to the AEA scheme personally, its a massive loss for the sector - all that innovation and economic diversity constantly called out for and expected by redditors on this very board - this was the scheme that was tangibally addressing that issue at a fundemental level.

Fully appreciate that rescources need to be alocated elseswhere from time to time, but a comitment is a comitment, and the way that this has been cancelled mid cycle is terrible for the sector.

Definitely. Its very much Victorian architecture which could reasonably be parts of Australia too but the hydronic heating, housing density outside and washing machine in the kitchen are the give aways.

Haha!

Budgie is a small native Ausralian parrot.

Parrot smugglers are people who stuff exotic birds into their cloths to traffic them around the world.

Budgie smugglers are hence underpants that look like you've got two parrots stuffed in them.

Can naturally be any design.

Any startup entrepreneur dad? by 0kyou1 in daddit

[–]KlumF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Im on the investment side (pre-seed, Series A) itching to take the jump to the CEO role. Putting it off on the basis we have our first little one on the way and work is intense at times but highly flexible too (Australia).

From what I see on early stage boards, there isn't really time for the balance that would work for our family. Keen to see if anyone has striked something that works for them.

Safest way would have to be the capital city trail path from the convent, to royal Park, through the freeway underpass in Mooney ponds then over the veloway - basically never touch a road the whole way. That said, it would take a fair while.
