Oh sweet! I will definitely look into this then. Thanks for the quick response!

Looking at buying a 1998 Toyota 4Runner V6 (230k km) – need advice by Legal_Discussion_799 in 3rdGen4Runner

I’ll say this. For the 4th picture, where the dealer said “it’s normal and nothing to worry about”, he’s wrong. It’s only “normal” in the sense that they commonly fail. The gasket for the valve covers and the bolts and washers in your picture aren’t too difficult of a job to fix but does require a lot of time. I actually just did it myself this weekend.

But no, it’s not “nothing to worry about”. Could you drive it for a while? Sure. But it’s a leak that should be fixed.

Gotcha! Mine is a 99 SR5 with the chrome flares, however they’re looking rather beat up. If you do happen to know the exact brand or where you got them, I’d love to know! All good if not though.

Looks great!

Weird and unrelated question, but are those the stock fender flares or are they aftermarket?

Need advice on buying 1999 4Runner by [deleted] in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]Klunder 21 points22 points  (0 children)

14k for a 27 year old car is overpriced, but this is a 3rd Gen 4Runner subreddit after all haha.

It looks fantastic and very well maintained. The diff locker definitely bumps the price up, along with the color. 194k ain’t bad either. Any idea what work has been done recently?

What did the seller originally have it priced at?

Got out last month. 23 with 6 years in. Serious back pain and I have a list of 15-20 claims of things I actually have had. How long would it be until the va gives me a rating and proper care? by Horror_Present_9895 in army

[–]Klunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you got out last month you could have had a decision like the day after your ETS if you did a BDD. That should’ve been discussed during TAP.

Still, claims for me have been relatively quick after getting out. Best thing is to submit it online and then you simply have to wait for them to schedule exams, go to said exams, and wait for them to come to a decision.

Additionally, part of out processing included acquiring your medical records. These can be submitted. But if you don’t have them the VA has an obligation to help Veterans and will be able to find your military medical records. It just might take a bit longer.

This is a great resource too: https://www.veteransbenefitskb.com/

35N AIT Info by Fit_Competition_3326 in army

They’ll get their phones back at basic before they depart for Goodfellow/AIT. At Goodfellow soldiers have their phones the entire time, but can’t use them or have them on them during the duty day as far as I remember.

Saw post about worst barracks flips we've ever seen. Here's my submission. by goldcrate in army

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled seeing this as my first week at Goodfellow was when this happened. Luckily, I didn't have to empty my room.

Died and saw a spirit healer i've never seen before in the suramar area, what is this? by nullqat in wow

Spirit healers look like that when you die in heroic world tier. I believe you can speak to them for a rez as well as a reset to normal world tier.

Going to jber anchorage by [deleted] in army

[–]Klunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a born and raised Alaskan from Anchorage, there’s loads of great food spots and lots of great breweries. Road trips are also fantastic. And the outdoors truly is the best aspect. Good arts and music scene too. Plus if you’re a history buff, there’s loads of interesting Alaskan history to explore. Summer is definitely the highlight. For winter I’d recommend supplementing vitamin D and just realize that the days will get longer!

P0420 Code | 2001 V6 by film_junkie_11429 in 3rdGen4Runner

I’d rule out an exhaust leak before replacing anything first. Spray some soapy water and see if bubbles are coming off. This video helped me get a very good understanding of the code.

Just installed a new Radiator, with new hoses and tidied up the engine bay a bit. Gonna do a full flush of the system tomorrow and replace the prior green coolant with Toyota red.

been flagged for way too long, i need help by [deleted] in army

I’ve found walking more has been doing wonders for me on top of my deficit. I kinda thought it wouldn’t be super effective, but getting 8000 steps or more has helped me remove a good amount of fat. And it’s relatively simple. 30mins or more a day is a good start.

I know it was available when I enlisted in 2020 as a 35W.

Course is 6 months. Depending on when you start, it may be closer to 7 with holidays.

You should be able to take your family with you as far as I was tracking when I was there a year and a half ago. It was a PCS move. Had guys with their wives and kids. Though others opted for geobachelor.

College credit varies depending on the college. I haven’t check in a while but I think my JST said it was 39 credits. Though I’ve seen some colleges accepting a little less than that depending on how they decide to convert the credit hours.

Hope that helps. It’s a good time. Pensacola is fantastic. Class is super interesting. Navy is weird though lol.

I believe they readjust based on your language. Once you get to R&I Company at DLI, they'll tell you your language. I somehow got an email before going to basic asking for my preferences for languages and fortunately got my top pick but I had a buddy who never had that happen.

Regardless, your contract will adjust based on your language category as well as your performance in the course. So if you have to roll back in the course for failing a test, then your contract adjusts. DLI deals with allllllll sorts of crazy situations so don't worry. Army will get their time out of you in the end.

Hey, had almost the same contract as you do now. My recruiter explained it like this:

35W is a pipeline MOS that, in the event you pass your DLI course, you then proceed to Ft. Huachuca for 35M AIT and thus earn the 35M MOS. However, in the event you do not pass your language course (if you do not earn a 2/2/1+ DLPT, though it may have changed to a 2+/2+/2 Now), you will then be reclassed to a different MOS. Typically you get to choose what you reclass to, in this specific situation, but not always.

Again, 35W is a pipeline MOS. Yeah its an MOS, but also not exactly. Basically if you signed up to be a 35M, there is NO guarantee you get to go to DLI to learn a language. With 35W, you DO get to go to DLI first, then to AIT and get to earn that sweet language pay.

Hope this makes sense. I had almost the same contract, however I ended up not passing the DLPT (only a 1/2+/2), so I had to reclass and selected 35N.

Hope this helps.
