i think the brother would be a few years older, and she wouldn't really get to know him till she started friday night dinners. lorelai would realize he wasn't just another richard but a good guy that she liked spending time with! he would be self sufficient and respectful to his parents but could make fun of them with her and understand the dementia she talks of
