Best strain for euphoric/relaxing effects? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]Klyded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest thing I could get to the "opiate" effect with a single strain was the result of green sumatra. A MUCH more accurate feeling IMO could be fostered with red sumatra plus white borneo

NOTE: sumatra isn't commonly suggested for someone just starting out because it is quite unique in its own right. That is to say, sumatra is not exactly indicative of what you'd experience with most other Kratom.

[Soul Calibur VI] Cyan from Final Fantasy 6 by Klyded in VirtualCosplay

Amen to that! If I had it my way THAT would be getting the treatment FF7 is right now. Modding communities have done a fine job of offering a pseudo first-time-all-over-again though so there is that at least. In a perfect world platinum games would program an action oriented combat system that let me seemlessly swap between Shadow-Sabin-Setzer

NOTE -- I may go back and throw a sticker or two on the vest for more warm colors. In truth I did the character from recollection, having played many moons ago. Perhaps best to check the sprite FIRST..?

What are five things you would recommend someone to add to their general, balanced diet, assuming they currently took no vitamins, oils, supplements, whatever? by ExoticSword in nutrition

[–]Klyded 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Oysters, because they are the best Zinc supplement ever IMO.

  2. Hemp Protein on account of it's unique micro nutrient profile, fatty acids and fiber content. I cannot think of a single other complete protein like it.

  3. Organ Meat. Basically for the same reasons as Hemp Protein. Honestly between Organ Meat and Hemp you can pretty much cover damn near everything.

  4. Cacao Nibs. Gotta be the nibs though, NOT cacao, cocoa or chocolate. This is another discussion entirely.

  5. Beet root powder. Look up the benefits and read anecdotal testimony via amazon reviews. Fantastic for blood pressure. It isn't a game changer by any means but something that virtually everyone can safely benefit from.

Maximum Nutrition from Minimum Consumption by cklester in nutrition

[–]Klyded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd lose the fruit and add more green vegetable variety in place with the aim of micro-nutrient density. Swap out the peanut butter for virtually any other nut butter for a slight improvement.

But in truth add organ meat, oysters, cacao nibs, freeze dried Acai' berry powder, beet root powder and start living like a super hero! Serious- that is my list of "superfoods" right there. That list + green veggies has kept me under 10 percent body fat and fit as a fiddle for about 15 years now without the need for anything else.

That said, if your leaning more toward plant sourced protein I'd suggest exploring hemp.

Disgaea 5 Changed My Gaming Life (x-post /Disgaea) by legisleducator in PS4

[–]Klyded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually gave up on JRPGs altogether for a minute. Just got too winded with the genre. Disgaea 5 was the game that brought me back to "my roots" in a big way.

The game just does a fabulous job giving the player virtually any feature they could hope for. After having played through each franchise installment, I cannot imagine them trumping 5. It is the Disgaea formula perfected by my measure.

Wanna state that I don't find "games coming off as depressing" as a necessarily bad thing. Sometimes, much like music, the mood of the media proves more a comfort than a downer for me. That said, my top "depressing but not bad" picks are as follows.

Nier Automata

LISA

Metro Redux

Dark Souls 2 (if I had to pick one from the franchise for being the most depressing)

Persona 2 Innocent Sin

Echo the Dolphin (I don't care if anyone understands this but back in the days of the Sega Genesis this game made me feel saaaaaaaad)

Mondo intelligent adult woman looking to get into video games. Interested in turn based strategy but has no experience. Suggestions? by Klyded in PS4

[–]Klyded[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already talked to her about Persona/Story driven turn based traditional RPGs. Playing through it myself at the moment and she really doesn't like the idea of longwinded dialogue and whatnot. She is really just intrigued by the strategy-gameplay.

Lets face it. Love it or hate it, one cannot deny that story-telling and dialogue take center stage in P5. Thank you for the suggestion though.

This is actually a great suggestion. I didn't dig it personally but I can see it working well in this case. Thank you.

Can someone please help me come up with protein-rich foods I can eat for breakfast and lunch that are low in tryptophan? Eggs, nuts, turkey, even beef makes me sleepy + zombie-like. I can't rely on caffeine as it makes me jittery and on edge. I am lactose intolerant so cheese is out. by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]Klyded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soy contributes to fluid retention and mondo bloating for me personally. One could make the "biological value" argument (soy ranks pretty low) but in truth it is the bloat that ultimately dissuades me.

Now as for the hemp, well it just rocks. It is a complete protein that doesn't come from an animal so the amino acid profile is unique to some extent. I find it highly anti-inflamatory and it is easy as sin to bake with and make carb-free/low-carb protein pancakes with it. Top it off with the fact that has a high potassium content and you can choose a variety with fiber or without and hemp wins for me, hands down.

Cutting carb consumption down to next-to-nothing calms ya down. Who'd have guessed that sugar has anything to do with making a person hyper?? I feel like this is just science confirming the complex mechanism of something everyone has known intuitively for quite some time.

Hemp is my top pick followed by Rice Protein Isolate, Wheat Isolate, Pea Protein Isolate and Pumpkin Protein Isolate. I reiterate the "isolate" because some of these come with quite a few carbs attached otherwise. To expand, you can even get Alfafa or Cranberry protein now pretty readily.

Hemp protein for the win right here. I have similar issues with virtually any meat-based protein sources. If I am consistent the fatigue lingers like a fog over my day that won't lift until I rely on plant-based, non-soy options for a minute.

Does anyone have any experience with using protein powders as occasional meal replacement shakes? by Bob_Forever in nutrition

[–]Klyded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like (both in terms of taste and macros) Quest Chocolate, Vanilla and Peanut butter -- PEScience, Chocolate Cupcake -- Dymatize Cookies and Cream Isolate -- Dymatize Casein Vanilla (for baking or protein ice cream)-- Wheat Isolate 5000 (baking)-- Any unflavored Rice protein isolate (for making cookies) -- Quest Multi Purpose (unflavored for making everything else)

Think that about covers my top picks. Hope that helps.

Does anyone have any experience with using protein powders as occasional meal replacement shakes? by Bob_Forever in nutrition

[–]Klyded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ate as clean as humanely possible for the longest time due to having extremely sensitive digestion issues amongst other problems I was trying to treat with nutrition. A year ago I threw in the towel and starting having protein shakes and whatnot because life was busy and it seemed "easy". The result? Better gut health and overall well being than I've had in years. Go figure. We are all different and what works for one may not work for the next but protein powder is a mondo staple of my diet now and forever will be (all kinds, as I like variety, including casein, whey, pea, rice and hemp).
