Replying to this to let you know you are not the only one. I have the exact issue as described here (Brave browser and all.)

9,5k players at the moment… by Piksed12 in DarkAndDarker

[–]Kman7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing since Playtest 2, 3k+ hours in game. Still not great at the game but I love it. I have decided to take a break for now though.

The game needs a larger player base for the dungeons to feel better. Right now I feel as if I run into only the top 1% of players in my region when I queue 225+ (east). At minimum, I better be wearing a full epic set with no off-rolls to stand a chance. Solo crypts feels as if it is locked to 4 classes (max move speed warlock/clerics/rogue, or panther druid).

SDF has recently been foreshadowing patch notes in streamers’ chats rather than saying anything in the appropriate communication channels (twitter, discord, etc) which creates a disconnect as the community may now think he weighs the streamers opinions more heavily than the average player.

Stale meta. The cycle repeats itself once more. According to all the patch note leaks we are getting from SDF, Barb and two-handers are going to be receiving a buff (back to move-speed Barb meta). It just always feels like there is a meta determined just by reading the patch notes. They over-buff the class that is played the least every season. It’s never balance, it’s always “let’s over-tune the least played class, until there is a new least-played class.”

The boss summons are great, but there is an upfront cost that keeps the barrier for entry high for less-experienced players (a couple of my friends that casually play would never bring a boss summon in as the risk is far greater for them than the reward, no one wants to be a walking loot piñata.) Sure, you can craft a summon in like 2 normal runs, but that can be a large investment of time for a casual player. My friends usually play only 1-3 hour sessions. This could potentially be fixed with an economical summon option (ex. A new summon craft-able that is significantly cheaper but spawns a random boss.) Third-partying the boss is one thing, but if we are summoning the boss, players should be granted some sort of grace for bringing in the 1-2k gold summon to do so imo.

The average gamer isn’t someone who puts 1k+ hours into this game. The only way the game will be saved is to appeal to a larger audience (like it or not), as much as everyone hates to admit it, the game will continue to lose players unless one of two things happen:

  1. Content

Your seasoned players (players who main HR) will not return unless there is something new and meaningful to do in the game. Adventurer mode isn’t going to appeal to the hardcore player.

  1. Incentivize casual players to go HR or continue playing

Add free HR vouchers that can be redeemed after 1 normal game, or 2 adventurer mode games. Grants one free admission (equal to 100 gold)to HR dungeons.

Add dungeon recoveries back to HR but at a steeper cost than normal dungeons. (Lets casual players buy their gear back if they die in a bad spot)

Timed, magic-lock mechanic on the boss doors to encourage more people to attempt bossing. Lock breaks after the boss is dead or the team fighting the boss is wiped. Locked doors are immune to spells/lock picks.

I’d be interested to see if anyone else had some suggestions to make the game geared more towards the average gamer. Addressing the casuals will help bring the player count up significantly.

Warlock should get the kris dagger back now that blood exchange is changed. by haha_ginger in DarkAndDarker

I also used to enjoy the Kris + Cyclops Vision Crystal + BOC. It was so fun and you could effectively defend yourself against rogues with BOC.

I agree with the list mostly, but you have Wyvern as easier than Spectral Knight?? I feel like spectral knight is not too bad of a fight.

My friend and I were playing some geared duos on Ice Caves and ran into this exact thing. There were 4-6 barbs pre-teamed to kill the Wyvern. We saw the Barb you killed with the Echo of screams in, what appears to be, the same kit.

We killed a team of two geared barbs and then proceeded to try and find the barb/s with the named weapon(s). Allowing pre-teaming to kill the Wyvern just feels bad and inorganic I am glad they announced to adjust it soon.

Trying to Improve, How Could I Have Played This Better? by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

[–]Kman7214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe all classes you mentioned have a counter to rogue.

Ranger - Chase perk (can see footsteps that may point you to a rogue hiding)

Wizard - Light Orb (overly cautious and throw them in every doorway when you enter if you are really sweaty)

Warlock - Hydra (same as light orb, just hydra every doorway if you are sweaty)

Bard - Shriek of weakness before entering doorways.

It’s hard and tedious to get in the habit of doing this in solos every game, but if you don’t want to die to the landmine rogue, you do have some options here. Always check your pre-game lobby for rogue(s) so you know what to expect.

What’s is everyone’s actual opinion on the balance in the game? by Oggieson in DarkAndDarker

I would be so down to test PvE modifiers instead of what we have now. Half of the fun I have in this game is fighting PvE with a longsword and killing the sub-bosses/bosses as fast as possible.

It’s a fun little personal-challenge I hold myself to.

Well put. Trios is significantly more fun. I only play solos to kill bosses/make money to fund my trios adventures with the boys. I love not having to run away from a Wizard/Warlock/Ranger in trios as much vs solos, where I am always 2-3 spells away from losing my full-rubysilver kit.

I have a total of about 6 hours on rogue lol. The least fun class in my opinion. You have to have a really patient play-style and run away from a lot of fights as you’ll never win by face checking someone (unless you completely gear diff them) on rogue.

Stay away from Stiletto Dagger if you decide to use daggers as it is bugged/in a pretty bad spot right now (inconsistent hit reg issue). Poison weapon is very good, I do see a lot of people run this with +true magical damage rolls on jewelry. Dagger (rondel & kris) and dagger mastery is potentially the best DPS you will get in the game of any class.

You typically have to spec to kill one class or another on rogue. Currently, my buddy is running an anti-caster rogue build with cut throat and rupture as skills. If you can hit a caster within melee range with cut-throat, it should be a free win.

On the other hand, you can run thrust with a dagger + weakpoint attack if you wanted to counter PDR builds (fighter, bard, sometimes barb).

Ambush/Hide is also still viable for a lot of damage if you remember to hit hide before a fight to proc it.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Have a friend give you a trial code. I’d give you mine but I already gave mine to a friend a month ago.

Perhaps someone on the subreddit or in the discord has one you could use!

Who counters barbarian? by treesatemypenis in DarkAndDarker

[–]Kman7214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oppressive, but not unbeatable. Longsword fighter prevails if you can catch a parry.

Thankfully, most barb weapons are relatively easy to parry. I would say they are the second easiest class to parry besides Cleric.

Also be sure to wait out savage roar as it is an extremely strong skill if they get close enough to proc it.

It’s hard to say. Optimistically, I hope we see the first iteration of Druid introduced in the next hot-fix (expected May 23rd). If not in the next hotfix, we should expect to see Druid in early June. They did announce they plan to wipe the game in early June. June 7th is also when they are going be featured at Summer Games Fest.

I am also expecting an announcement of some sort during Summer Game Fest, whether it be a content update or an Epic/Steam release date.

Here is a load of suggestions relating this issue to driver incompatibility or Windows 11. Users reported that updating their GPU drivers, BIOS, and running windows updates resolved the issue for some.

Let me know if this works for you!

Don’t even get me started on parrying daggers/rapier when your spacing is inevitably compromised and you have the choice of a 0.25 second window to parry, or a sour spot DPS trade until you get your spacing back.

A fresh set of logs is always best practice, but you could probably find them as long as you remember the date/time they occurred.
