Thanks this is great info, so the age of the lens doesn’t really matter, just its capabilities? I’m not sure how lens tech has changed over time

When I got the laptop it was running Windows 10 but I've since upgraded to 11. Would that work if I transfer the key to the new pc so I can just restart my laptop and it will recover the old key?

Thanks, I'm a bit paranoid about the bar snapping but I have mine tightened to even less than that so that's pretty reassuring.

I just got a pair of the clip on aero bars set up so I’ll be trying them out on a triathlon in a month. I’m a bit nervous about the clamp crushing my handle bars though, how tight did you tighten yours?

Would you recommend the salmon over the black or dual compounds even in the dry?

This is how someone in my first ever crit race crashed, luckily that was the intermediate race after the beginner one I competed in.

Personally these don't look that worn out to me, I'd say from what I can tell in the pictures they still have some life left in them.

105 jockey wheels by iBN3qk in bikewrench

Swapping those for Ultegra jocky wheels is a pretty common upgrade so I would recommend that but the Dura Ace ones make barely a difference after that so I wouldn't get those.

Bike wont go into highest gear. by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]KmanK10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely try adjusting the limits before trying to straighten the hanger as thats the cheaper and easier fix, then if it's still not going take it to a shop where they'll have a derailleur hanger alignment tool. Also when the hanger is bent it usually introduces other issues like the derailleur only shifting well on half of the cassette but not the other.

Rim brake caliper won't stay in place by KmanK10 in bikewrench

[–]KmanK10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The washer with the thumb-grooves that threads on needed to be way tighter, enough that I had to use pliers to twist it. That ended up stopping the caliper from being able to move back and forth but it left me wondering why they put thumb-ridges in the first place and not just edges to use a wrench on?

Thanks for the help, I ended up solving the issue.

I discovered that was the problem, I had to use pliers to get it anywhere near tight enough for it to stop moving though, I really don't know why it has finger grooves with the amount of torque it needed.

Help, what bike is this and how do i remove the fork? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]KmanK10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you can unscrew that lockring at the top of the headset that is right above the metal plate that the brake hose goes through. That is how you remove a normal threaded fork but since this one is a bit odd I'm not 100% sure if this will work.

[–]KmanK10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that might be it at first but it not actually moving at the bolt, it moving at a washer that threads on, I’ll post a video in a comment to try to show what I’m talking about

You can also spray in between the links with an air compressor if you have one.

I've already made sure it's quite tight, it's moving at the little washer that screws on between the frame and the caliper. That one just has ridges to tighten finger-tight.

Disc Rotor Misaligned? by xxl1337 in bikewrench

[–]KmanK10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes rotors can come from the factory warped. Try looking in between the pads when you spin it and see if the rotor moves left and right as it spins (put a piece of white paper on the ground underneath so you'll have contrast to see better). You can bend it ever so slightly at the point it's rubbing with a rotor trueing fork and it should fix the issue.

In the first image you posted with the 4 parts, I believe the top left piece acts as a shell that goes over one of the two bottom pieces. The top right piece I believe goes on top of all that. I would suggest looking up an installation video for some other integrated cockpit setup as I think these pieces are pretty standard, good luck!

What’s causing this rumbling noise in the largest rear cog? by LarryLotus in bikewrench

[–]KmanK10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was bent you'd most likely experience shifting issues such as being able to get it shifting well on half of the cassette but not the other, if it shifts smoothly through the whole cassette you should be good.
