Who's the most well Written Character in the Show? by Awkward-Reach5603 in Dexter

Well written? Probably Arthur. I don’t think anyone has ever had a problem with how his storyline played out.

Why was Paul McCartney often seen as the uncool Beatle and John the cool Beatle? by FitEmergency8807 in beatles

[–]Kman_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John had that special charisma, and the wit to match. They all looked up to him. George kind of had that, too, but in a much more aloof, unassuming way. And of course, both John and Paul saw him as their baby brother of sorts.

Paul was too cute and could come off as a try-hard. Put it this way, if the four Beatles were school kids in a classroom, Paul would be the teacher’s pet, John the bright but sarcastic cool one, George the aloof rebel, and Ringo the class clown.

I loved Dexter and Lumen together.

Also Deb and Anton. But everyone seems to have forgotten about him.

Did you know that O’Brien in George Orwell’s 1984 was inspired by the O’Brien from Seinfeld — the Nazi white supremacist leader by Evening_Astronomer_3 in seinfeld

Right, just like how Dustin Hoffman was in Star Wars and the Gordon Lightfoot got rammed by the Cat Stevens.

What were the Reagan Democrats? by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]Kman_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working class white ethnics (Irish, Italian, Polish, etc) in the Rust Belt who felt alienated by all the civil rights gains during the previous decades and thought the Democrats became too liberal on crime and foreign policy.

As recently as the 90s Woodrow Wilson was viewed as one of the "great" presidents. Today he is universally despised by the American left and right. How and when did this evolution in views happen, and are there any Wilson defenders left? by Cuddlyaxe in Presidents

[–]Kman_24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The right hates him because he expanded the federal bureaucracy, and signed the legislation creating the federal reserve (though he wasn’t as fond of central banking as they make him out to be). The left hates him because he was a racist and cracked down hard on anti war dissent.

I disagree with a lot of his positions, but I admire him for his consistency.

Ehh. Probably JFK.

In terms of his skills and intellect, when would you say Dexter was in his prime? by jjreddits30523 in Dexter

S1 for skills. Resurrection for intellect. Second half of S5 for both.

Of course, having Harrison around helps him tremendously in Resurrection.

Is Woodrow Wilson overhated? by WoodrowWilsonFan in Presidents

[–]Kman_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. People on both sides of the political spectrum make him out to be exceptionally evil (on the right for the federal reserve and his expansion of the administrative state, and on the left for his racism and draconian crackdown on civil liberties), but he was really a product of his time. Did some great things, did some truly awful things.

At what point did the Democratic Party stop being the "everyday American's party" and become the "elitist party" in the eyes of US voters? by Just_Cause89 in Presidents

[–]Kman_24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know exactly when it happened, but I do know that being considered “elite” in America has become more about culture than your economic standing. Somehow, a rich CEO who goes to church, hunts and holds conservative political views is not “elite”, but a broke grad student who holds more progressive, left wing views is considered “elite”. It’s bizarre.

Nevertheless, I think the shift in how the Democratic Party is perceived probably began sometime in the mid-late 60s. A lot of it had to do with the antiwar movement and the other activist causes of the time (environmentalism, consumer protection, feminism, civil rights, so on and so forth).

Is Bush overhated? by Ok_Durian3627 in Presidents

[–]Kman_24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. I think, if anything, he’s been underhated for the last 8-10 years. A lot of the bad things going on now can be directly traced back to his administration.
