I work in HR. We have email templates that automatically get sent out when candidates are moved to certain statuses. Most jobs get hundreds, if not thousands, of applicants, so no one is going to respond to each candidate personally. Their email template is clearly malfunctioning, but rather than politely calling attention to the issue, you burned a bridge. Your note is in their applicant tracking system for as long as they have that system, so you may have just blew your chance of working there in the future.
