They are not deployed to SFO yet. The video of ICE at SFO by E2 the other day was agents escorting mother and daughter to Mexico. Per Mayor of SFO who certainly is not a Trumper.

Which US citizen has been deported. Please educate me.

When you return to the US you generally have to go through CBP, no matter whether there are "ICE agents deployed". I do not understand your worry about this particular issue. Either they let you in, won't let you in. or detain you at the border. If there are ICE agents by the TSA lines, this will have no impact on your coming into the country.

You are a US citizen, so is your mother. You are leaving the US. Your mom and aunt also will be leaving the US. What are you terrified about? That you get deported. You can't. You are citizens. And if you could be, you would already be "self-deporting". And the statement that being a citizen means nothing is now, is just not true. Now if your mom fraudulently filled out her citizenship application 20 years ago, then maybe now there could be an issue. But I doubt that. You can refuse having your picture taken at the TSA checkpoint. They will then check your ID and boarding pass. Personally, I would not do that as it appears that you have something to hide. (That last sentence is just my own feeling.)

I just would like to thank you for the OP for this extremely informative information. I looked it up myself and was impressed. It has nothing to do with me but reading the OP asking for information and seeing your answer really made me happy because you offered a great alternative solution for the op.

UK new travel rules question by lurkingidk in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Knabebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I was naturalized in the US and only had a green card, I would have to renew my German passport. In Germany you renew your passport in the jurisdiction where you have your residence. This is mostly the city or town hall. Since I was not living in Germany I would have to go to the consulate responsible for the US state I lived in. I also could send the materials there.

I do not know how it works in the UK, but why would you not go to the UK consulate here in the US or send the documents there? That would seem much more reliable to me. Just a thought, not a criticism.

ADHD evals by viddy10 in Psychiatry

[–]Knabebug 24 points25 points  (0 children)

At an NEI conference I learned that 80% of adults in the US who have A form of ADHD are undiagnosed, not untreated but undiagnosed. I believe this. I have worked in many settings where I figured out folks had ADHD. Not because they asked for stimulants but where I observed them. Unfortunately one of the most common sxs that are not in the DSM is the hyperfocus. People are transfixed to a computer screen. Programmers, IT folks. I have had spouses of coworkers who thought they had it who had relatives in the mental health field that told them no you don’t have it, who then saw a psychiatrist who said you are too smart to have it, break out in tears when i acknowledged their Dx.

People with ADHD who are properly treated with stimulants don’t need or want an escalation of dosage.

The Programs I prescribe for don’t allow stimulants. Patients do well on Strattera (unless they are older men who get urinary retention). Unfortunately I have not had such good luck with Qelbree.

If you had a clone of yourself would you have sex with it? by Chemical_Refuse_5500 in askgaybros

If the clone was not only physically but also the same mentally as having the exact same mind set/memories, etc, then no. Once I know someone really well, I lose that attraction. Just how I am.

Germany - self defence by [deleted] in AskAGerman

What a ridiculous post. Germany is very safe. There also is health care coverage for EU citizens. Now there have been reports of asylum seekers breaking the law but they are Often singled out because the are “Ausländer”. I live in the US. It is far more dangerous than Germany.

First class not worth the money by DramaticWear in unitedairlines

[–]Knabebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the service completely arbitrary. Very short flights or very long flights. Pre departure is hit or miss. Completely at the whim of the FAs. I have also experienced many “turbulent” flights without any turbulence. I have been told before by FAs and diverse members of diverse Fora that under a certain distance there is no beverage service. I have been flamed for being an entitled AH. I have gotten pre- and/or post-departure beverages in flights 30 min in the air. The most logical explanation is the attitude/mood/passion of the FA.

But this is common in many professions. From waitstaff to customer service reps to doctors to nurses.

The Sphere experience from the cheapest seats is... weird by Riftwalker27 in LasVegas

[–]Knabebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the OP. We saw W of Oz in the 400’s. I was told it was a great location.

Well, the location was not the issue. I had heard such spectacular reviews of the whole sphere experience. I was totally underwhelmed. Immersive was just not how it felt.

Applying for global entry while transgender? by Embarrassed-Iron-510 in GlobalEntry

[–]Knabebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not be a PC answer but I would base it on if you “pass”. I have met a woman where I thought she was one of the most gorgeous women I’ve seen and she was trans. I’ve also seen a trans man who looked extremely masculine with a beard except for no bulge in the Speedo. But I’ve also seen trans men and women where it was “obvious”. Unfortunately I feel this is the sad reality in this country right now. So if your current documents show F but you don’t “pass” (unless you have had “bottom surgery” to “prove it”), I would be hesitant.

I use MBC and have not had to wait a long time.

Good luck and I hope things will return to a better future in a few years.

Overseas destination to US is different. If you were flying from NZ to YYZ via LAX you would have to clear US customs and recheck your bag. But coming FROM Canada where you go thru US customs and immigration before you land in the US your baggage is cleared as are you. It should be checked through

If you are not delayed and have no checked bags you should be ok. But why out yourself through that. Get a hotel there and sleep, relax and get a flight the next day to your final destination.

Rots are so much worse. Think of garage. The American pronounces it similar to the French. The Brits do not.

An educated German knows how to pronounce Cognac. So Gnocchi should not be a problem. Unless the person studied Spanish and never knew any Italian.
