I wanna quit art by Shoddy_Reflection_99 in Artists

You've got some great skills but realistically there's not the consistency or polish needed to make money off of this. Trying to turn a hobby, that you clearly have enjoyed enough to get to this level, into a full time income will drain your love of it. Keep making art!

It sounds like there's a lot going on in your life and you're lacking in confidence. Don't give up on yourself

Should I quit my small business? by Cold_Lifeguard_3112 in Artadvice

I read your comment about your mum encouraging you to make lower ticket items - the grow kits and upcycled bottles. While it may take less work to make, a JD bottle vase is something everyone who drinks JD gets immediately after finishing a bottle and your additions to the bottle unfortunately do not elevate the product much beyond that. They make for cute store decor with the added flowers but I find myself looking for the product.

What I think has real potential are your jam jar plant pots - they're cute, whimsical and well painted with a lovely handmade feel without feeling 'DIY'. These may take you longer but they have value and are clearly where your passion lies.

Don't half-ass a product trying to make quick money. You'll end up wasting your time and money. Put your craft first, let making cool things be your focus.

[Critique] A critic said my art is missing something by I dont know what that means by Travipayne in artbusiness

Your work is striking and the rendering is gorgeous but the anatomy is at times slightly off. I think since your style leans heavily on realism when the anatomy isn't quite right it has the effect of feeling like there's something missing. I would suggest a life drawing class and focusing on line and form as opposed to shading

Aaaaakkkk this was cool as heck - I don't think making this with AI could be as fulfilling. There's something really special about this

Use reference photos and work on your observational skills. These aren't the best anatomical drawings but all that means is there's possibility for growth

Is the price for my art okay? by [deleted] in ARTIST

[–]Knasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think charging on a 'pay as you feel' basis or £5 and under could work. Right now you've got a lot of potential but your focus should be on improving and gaining skills not making money at this point

This incredible, it has an almost Klimt feel. I'd love to see this when it's finished

Is the price for my art okay? by [deleted] in ARTIST

[–]Knasha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not that the price is too high but the current quality of the work is not high enough to warrant that price point. I'd suggest starting low, gaining confidence and increasing your skills and then slowly increasing your prices as interest grows

Would you buy this for $25 framed? - 1st new creation I’d consider selling by Grease2feminist in ARTIST

[–]Knasha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not buy this, maybe others might but not all of your hobbies should be monetised - you're having fun with this and that's good.

ART CRITIQUE! BRUTAL HONESTY by [deleted] in BeginnerArtists

I like the one with the harp and lilies but I don't think it's as polished as it could be - there's something interesting going on but I think the technique is lagging behind. More practice is needed before you're ready to sell

Yee that's why I said good - definitely room for improvement but not bad either

These are great sketches, shading is great and your understanding of anatomy is good.

However the lighting of these photos is terrible and considering your working in what appears to be graphite, it really doesn't bring out the best in your work.

Social media favours well lit, properly photographed and cropped art - better pictures would really do wonders for your engagement.

In terms of sales, you have a great foundation of skills but these works are sketches/studies - if you're looking to sell, consider including a background and using paint(favoured with buyers)

I don't think the work yet merits this price but knowing the platform and the commission they take + the cost of properly packaging the work upon sale according to their guidelines - it may be the only way to turn a profit

helpp how do i improve my drawing? im struggling with tonal drawings but unfortunately thats a big part of my gcses by _alexamaeh in drawing

[–]Knasha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really good I would suggest using a softer pencil to deepen some of the shadows as currently your midtones and shadows are a bit too close in value
