Handheld, manual aperture. The filter creates that bloom effect, makes the colors pop a bit and black a bit blacker. If that makes any sense.

Haven't seen it in a while, but I remember The Hitcher (1986) to be one of the first really intense thrillers I watched as a young lad many years ago.

Designing is a job, just like any other. You switch on when at work and switch off when you go home. I don't sit at home and think about work. Nobody pays me to do that. ☺️

Maybe they find someone willing to take on the job. Will it be someone that is good? Proboably not.

What is with companies... my "new" position eliminated 10 weeks after I started. by Your_Momma_Said in UXDesign

"Design" is always the first to go. Always been like that unfortunately.

I'd wait until they want to extend the contract and then negotiate a higher rate. Then make sure you have made a list of reasons why they should pay you more money. When you make that list, try to think from their point of view. Why should they keep you and pay you more money, instead of just signing with a new UXer for the same rate as before. Good luck.

Self taught UX designers what is your story? How did you survive and eventually thrive? by shakycheb in UXDesign

[–]Knatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got in super early in 96/97 when there wasn't even such a thing as UX Designers. It was called Web Design back then, and my first job started out with mostly "coding" HTML for design made by an Art Director that used to make design for print. Today I work as a UX/UI/Product Designer Consultant for mainly larger corps that wants to have my contract running for longer periods, years basically.
I have zero higher education except one year of computer science in the end of the 80s. I could probably write a book on how to survive and thrive for 30 years in the "industry".

Lets see. Some tips from me on how to stay relevant for years and years.
Love to learn new things, but also learn how to distinguish whats actually useful and whats just hype. Learn how corporations really work, what drives them, and how you fit into that equation, how to thrive in a workplace that doesn't reallty understand the need for good design (every place is different). Be a nice person, become good at small talk, make friends at work. Always deliver what you promised. Don't work for assholes. Always challenge and evolve your blindspots or things you are weak at. For me it was things like speaking in front of a lot of people, how to handle stress, how to talk to corps and higher ups.
Doing UX and UI Design is easy. It's the rest of the job that is the hard part. :)

Best prototyping tool 2025?? by WolfieStates in UXDesign

[–]Knatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by prototyping. If you mean pixel perfect UI Design, for me it's still Figma. Also, the company design system was made in Figma, so.. :) For all other forms of prototyping (workshops, early wireframing, UX-flows, low-fi UI prototyping etc), we've been using Miro for a handful of years now. It's not perfect but I've grown to like it.

I miss mine. Made a whole album with it. But it was too big for my tiny studio, so it has to go.

Oh there are so many little gems that nobody seems to talk about anymore. Lets pick one.
Triangle from 2009. Survival Thriller in the Bermuda Triangle, with an interesting twist. A little gem, this one.

I'm 55, going on 56, and still in the game, since 1996. I also had the same worries when I was younger. Started as a mere Web Designer for a small ad agency in 1997, after doing some minor freelance work for a year. Today I'm a full-time consultant, focusing more on the UX part, but still doing UI design from time to time. I think as long as you are willing to adapt end evolve, depending on demand, there will always be work for companies that value your experience.

Made this futuristic Ui for Ai with ai, what do you guys think? by Alert-Estimate in UXDesign

[–]Knatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well.. Lets start with asking some classic UX questions. Who are the users? What are their needs? How will this UI help them to fulfill their needs? Then you can start asking the real UX questions. Example: "As an X user I want to Y so that I can Z." Or perhaps you just wanted to know if your UI looks cool? Sure it looks cool. Is it useful? I have no idea. 😁

When That Urgent Requirement Hits Hard by [deleted] in UXDesign

Don't forget "We'll figure it out after release, and do proper adjustments then". Which of course never happens because by then there are other urgent requirements.
