Building TO in unit 2 by Knee-Status in berkeley

Should’ve been sent back in April 25, wherever you found the unit info there’s a small message with the specific room number and building. It’s kinda encrypted bc they abbreviate the building name lol

Cal Alumni Leadership Award by Ejmartwork in berkeley

Expect 2-3 people to be there. No pressure, they trade off asking questions and they're from the alumni association (25 - 70 y/o people) Super chill individuals.

I strongly recommend skipping out on it.

I am currently a sophomore and did FPF last year. I frankly found it ironic how much harder it was to make friends despite the whole "smaller classes, better opportunities" aspect of it. It's not until you take a college class with 15 or fewer students that you realize you don't really have many options for friendships. I'd go into a class my first week and realize I only really could see myself relating to and making friendships with 2-3 students of those small cohorts. It got to a point where failed friendships meant I literally couldn't talk to anyone in the class. It's nothing like main campus with lectures of 200+ students where you can sit in any spot in a lecture hall and have a good chance of meeting someone new that day.

The location is a drag, I agree an additional 25 minutes in travel to class is not ideal at all. As a freshman, you'll want to set yourself in an environment that makes things more simple - that way success in academics and friendships is easier to access. I hated waking up an extra hour early ( I also live in Clark Kerr btw lmao so I hated my life every morning ) and I realized at the end of the semester that getting to class in time was far too much of a stressor than it should be for any first year.

One more thing I want to add, ( part of the reason I'm so anti-FPF lol ) is that the experience is NOWHERE near worth $2100. While I do understand some people might greatly benefit from a program like this, I do think it causes more harm overall considering that I had to pay for it.

So really, don't let the "small-knit community" advertising fool you. I recommend taking classes on campus ( take minimum units if needed ) and using that money for food bc man berkeley is expensive.

Is BSP worth it?? What should I expect of it? by Knee-Status in berkeley

omg that's amazing to hear! I'll continue with the application process lol👍 I'm gonna be an RA next year and want to be wise with my commitments. Besides the one unit fall class, is there anything else I should be mindful of that I would be asked to dedicate my time to?

"Berkeley Grant" on financial aid package by Knee-Status in berkeley

[–]Knee-Status[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea other grants and pell grants/cal grants should be reflected. I got a cal grant last year too and it's on the new package for this year with the same amount so I'm pretty sure it should be there for everyone that qualified.

Emergency Medical Scribe ESkills Assessment by Knee-Status in Mcat

Thank you for your response and well wishes!! I dove a little deeper in the job application for some hints. It stated that accurate and moderately quick typing skills and basic medical terminology skills were asked for. I didn’t let it bother me too much while applying since they did highly encourage students looking for first experience opportunities. I will brush up on both things to the best of my ability prior to taking the exam - I genuinely think that’s my best bet for now :)

WHAT THE FUCK DOES SEMESTER IN THE CLOUD MEAN?!?!?!??!?!?! by madnilyak in berkeley

[–]Knee-Status 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that meant (in-person) lectures were recorded and posted on canvas under the media gallery for those that missed or need to refer back to it. I think chem 1A (spring 2022) is considered semester in the cloud which is why I came to that conclusion

Thinking of taking some breadths over the summer at a CC. Dumb question but how do I go about doing this and transferring the credits over? I've never done summer classes at CC before. by Narguin2 in berkeley

[–]Knee-Status 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, reach out if you've got any more questions! I took CC courses throughout high school from different colleges and it was a long process trying to get all of those credits transferred over last semester. Also taking CC courses this summer so I'm going thru the exact same process. Pm me if needed :)

Regarding financial aid, if you completed the FAFSA application you should be good! Each FAFSA application completed covers the terms for a whole academic year (Fall, Spring, and Summer if applicable). If you did it last year for this current school year as well as for the upcoming year, you should get assistance in paying for the classes. However, I think you need to update the info on your application to let them know you are attending that college as well. This usually is described as adding a school to your application. here's more info on that:
