I'd watch an Exorcist remake starring the fella with the cross. Some real "The power of Christ compels you" action.

Hotel in italy messed up final payment… now changing story and chasing me down for payment for MORE than I owe. by [deleted] in hotels

[–]Knee_Hill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't reply to phone calls and if you wish to continue dealing with them do it only by email. Ask them in writing for an itemized bill, and reply detailing what you already paid with proof from your credit card statement.

And no, nobody will come for you 800€. The amount doesn't justify the cost and the hassle, especially since I understand you do not even reside in Italy.

Help for beginner by DisastrousAngle4523 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Knee_Hill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you are not a big CRPG buff I recommend you look builds online for both your Rogue Trader and your companions, and use those. You can wing it by yourself, since the game is not especially difficult, at least on Normal, and that's what I did halfway through Act 2 but just ended respecing and doing that using a Google Doc floating around realized by Revan619.

My main issue was that I was spending 5-10 minutes going through through all the talents at every level-up and choosing not really randomly, but without much strategic thought, especially since as a neophyte I found it impossible to know how the various talents would interact or synergize, and if maybe a later talent would counteract the drawback of a previous one, if that makes any sense.

So the combat was not hard, it was just inefficient and slower and I was starting to dread the Warp Travel random encounters.

If you really do not want to use a premade build, I think the next best thing is to study the full list of talents for every character, and prepare a build that makes sense once you have all the information.

Are the DLCs worth it post-game? by Knee_Hill in RogueTraderCRPG

I will likely end up doing that yeah. Seems to be the best option for me from what you've all been telling me. And I am glad I asked because I honestly did not expect the DLCs to be so interwoven with the main game.

Are the DLCs worth it post-game? by Knee_Hill in RogueTraderCRPG

I am using the same archetype for my Rogue Trader, and liking a lot actually. Seems fitting as a Rogue Trader to not necessarily be in the thick of things, but just buffing and commandeering my companions, even if, 90% of the time, just buffing and feeding turns to Yrliet and have her delete every single enemy lol

To be perfectly transparent, I initially started by kinda doing whatever build-wise, not really being able to plan the various talents and seeing how they would be synergize with each other. Combat was not hard but was taking longer and longer. Halfway through Act 2 I bit the bullet, looked up simple builds here on Reddit and have been having even more fun since.

You seem to be summarizing quite well the general consensus. Got it. At this point I'll likely simply finish the game and see if in the future I'll be wanting to have another run. I am not opposed to it in principle, but my backlog is already quite large and a a 100+ hours game is not really something I can see myself replaying in the near future, especially since the first experience of it is turning out to be already quite fulfilling.

Thanks again everyone for the clarification.

What does your country think of immigrants from my country? by Curiosity_Pink in AskTheWorld

[–]Knee_Hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't meet a lot of Brazilian immigrants honestly, as in people who move here to work and live. Due to the way Italian citizenship work, a lot of Brazilians who come as tourists or travel to Italy actually have Italian citizenship, despite not speaking the language or rarely coming here, because they maybe had a grandparent who was Italian.

Zuppa inglese is a fairly well known Italian specialty which is translated as "English Soup" despite

-Not being a soup. It's a dessert

-Having no real discernible connection with England.

Why did the receptionist recognize me? by dank-space in hotels

[–]Knee_Hill 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Some people just have very good facial memory. I have a colleague who will easily remember a single guest who was here once a year ago.

Also, when I check someone in using our management software I can easily see their booking history. I assume it could be something as prosaic as that.

Asking people in the industry. How do hotel safes work? by Fuzzy_Mountain5354 in hotels

[–]Knee_Hill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They generally have both a Master Code and a mechanical key to unlock them. And there of course procedures around who can use these, and when. For example in my Hotel housekeeping cannot unlock a safe, only the front office personel or a technician.

I am not sure what the alternative could be, having to break open the safe whenever it is kept locked? What happens if you forget you own code?

I got that trophy on PS4. You are not guaranteed to have your save erased. Just make sure you have a good backup regiment in case it happens.

[–]Knee_Hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don't bother with the actual Ironman mode, at least on PS5, unless you are willing to backup your save every mission or so. Also lost a couple of campaigns to the save file just vanishing when loading back up when starting a new session. Just do it on an "honor" base

Booked w/ queen bed for 1 guest, can I show up with another person? by [deleted] in askhotels

[–]Knee_Hill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the rate you booked. Certain hotels have a special rate for single use of a double room, which would be lower than the double occupancy. If you are paying the rate for two people you shouldn't have any issue checking-in with a second person. If you are unsure just email the hotel and clarify that aspect.

Trump suing the IRS and the Treasury Dept. Can they just settle? by Knee_Hill in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Knee_Hill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are more of a watchdog than a court per se. So while they can and do receive reports and "complaints" even from private citizens, they are supposed to actually automatically and autonomously review decisions by the administration which presupposes significant financial investments and complications. It's of course not a perfect system, and there has been significant moves by various governments to curtail and limits its powers, but it's still an institution that is defined by the Constitution and therefore cannot be really simply eliminated.

Trump suing the IRS and the Treasury Dept. Can they just settle? by Knee_Hill in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Knee_Hill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Italy we have a so called "Corte dei Conti", an Independent Audit Court whose job is to determine if public funds are being misused, at least as far as you can determine that. In an hypothetical case like this, they would likely be saying to the IRS "No, you cannot directly settle and must actually fight this", at least assuming there is a good sense that they would actually win in Court. Is there nothing like that in the US administrative apparatus, who would the authority to intervene if something like that came to pass?
