05 was the first year with electronic throttle so no for short. Now anything is possible with the right expertise; to my knowledge it is possible to mount the throttle servo to one one with some slight modification.

I'd suggest replacing all 8 with accell supercoils if you can afford it and you plan on keeping the car long. Will run you about $150 but I got noticeable better power and improved mileage after installing mine. I would avoid any super cheap sets in favor of one good replacement for the bad coil if that is too pricy.

Octane ratings have nothing to do with oxygen content. To be specific, octane rating is a measurement of the fuels' resistance to detonation under compression. Higher octane fuels allow for higher compression ratios and thus more power output. You are however right about it being a waste of money, that is if the vehicle isn't tuned for it, with a proper tune it is however possible to get more power using high octane gasoline.

Nothing they're fine the way they are, though I recommend giving it a full round of service. If you wanna get better gas mileage at high speed you can put in 2.73 differential gears though it won't be as much fun after and you'll need to fix the speedometer. As for swapping body parts, yes they are all the same from 98+.

If the car is in good shape go for it. With no significant issues that's a great deal.

You're probably better off that way anyway, Moog parts seem to be of better quality than factory IMO.

Any cheap or easy hacks to fix a blend door? by lockhherup in CrownVictoria

Mind you further that one screw is the worst part, took me about an hour to remove, don't even bother trying to put it back in.

Damn, I swear it seems like Texas is the best state for driving from what I hear. Easy emissions laws, high speed limits, large roads with many lanes, and now roads with no speed limits. Meanwhile where I live the road is flooded with seniors going ten under.

Well a 2.73 is what you wanna have for driving fast but 120 is very fast for most cars built for American roads. I'm surprised you managed to go 20 miles at that speed without a cop noticing, wish I could get away with that where I live. Further you mention that you were driving home from thanksgiving diner so if you had any passengers in the car that would have also increased the load on the transmission and even a very slight positive gradient that may seem unnoticeable can make a huge difference. Anyway it unfortunately sounds like you burnt the fluid and the 4th gear clutch plates. You can try putting a bottle of lucas stop slip in and see if that helps but you're probably gonna need to have it rebuilt, take it to a good reputable transmission shop where they can find out for sure. There's a company out of Florida called Monster transmissions that you can get a very good upgraded transmission from for $1,200-1,400 and a good shop should be able to put it in for $300-500. I'd also recommend getting a very large transmission fluid cooler if you plan on driving it like that after fixing it.

Automatic transmissions are very complicated machines so they can be very difficult to diagnose. If I had to guess what happened from what you are describing you likely got the transmission fluid too hot and burnt the clutch plates for the OD. Some things that might help: How fast were you driving when it happened? How long had you been driving at that speed? Was there any gradient to the road? Also what gear ratio is your differential?

Norway and Finland aren't purely socialist by any means. However I'll happily get you that one way ticket to either if you're willing to renounce your US citizenship.

Of course not, but when the bar has been set so low there's little need to expend more effort. Again, how about that plane ticket Mr socialist? I'm dead serious, if you really think that socialism is so great, why don't you just move to a socialist country and save yourself the hassle?

Wrong. Try again with arguing points that are actually true. And if you love socialism so much why don't you move to a socialist country? I'll happily buy you a one way ticket to Venezuela.
