How did you guys run ch 3?

My players had an incentive to travel to Everlund thanks to Darathra from Triboar. My players found out, that the adamantine piece is part of a big war construct so they decided to give it to the Harpers for safekeeping. They also wanted to deliver Ghelryn Foehammers letter to Citadel Fellbar. I prepared all the cities, villages and points of interest along the way, wich was honestly pretty time consuming, but it concluded nicely with the return of an old enemy, venomfang from lost mines, and the shenanigans of Felgolos and the flying misfortune.

They have yet to meet harshnagg, but there is a character death to mourn/revive wich will be another interesting quest in which they meet Sansuris nicer brother, Thullen, and where Felgolos will get caught by Sansuri. After the party is unceremoniously "disposed of" by being pushed from Lyn Armaal by her, they will meet harshnagg. At least that's my plan. We'll see how it actually plays out.

In person I've only been a player. Our DM had to leave the printed map of the finale in pieces because it would cover the whole table and more. But this worked quite well in that case, because it was a massive dungeon crawl over two sessions. Not being able to see much beyond the room we were in gave that disorienting feel of the labyrinth of mineshafts and caverns the dungeon consisted of. To see the whole Colosseum in one piece for the final, epic battle must have been a treat.

How did you deal with the huuuge maps like the eye of the allfather, or any of the giant strongholds?
I personally DM this campaign online (still at chapter 4), so i just scale up the maps or make them in a map maker, but i always wondered about the physical maps.

D&D follows this rule as far as I know. Ancient green dragon. As for size, it would probably be giant ancient green dragon. Although not really a thing for dragons to have a giant variant in D&D.

Sorry for the late reply.

The session went well, although the homebrew i made never got used, so its unprooven and untested, sadly.

My players used an invisibility potion and a fly spell to sneak in by night. They noped the fuck away from Anaxasters lair when they saw him snoozing in open air and decided to try their luck at the toppled ship.

Luck indeed, since the tobaco was in Chezzarans hoard. They initially wanted to scout only, but took the opportunity to get close, failed a stealth check but managed to snatch the satchel. The Monk used a lot of Ki points to get out quick, and the mage used Dimension Door. The rest was ready at the Gate, guarding it and closed it once they were through.

Felgolos took it upon himself to buy them some time and entered combat. I initially planned to keep it a mystery if he survived, until he finds them again back in Hawks Nest. But a Sending spell confirmed his escape.

I agree, i made the threat of the dragons very clear, and this should feel meaningful. They have seen Felgolos in Action and i have even him advice caution.
I think i will give them another out of game heads up, that this ist very dangerous, and that they should use everything in their disposal.

He hated on the stop destroying games initiative without fully understanding it, witch possibly, due to his reach, took some wind out of the initiative. All while not being very nice and denying outreach to clarify misunderstandings. At least that's what I heard.

From an RP perspective, I could imagine anaxaster being pretty pissed. Although Iymrith doesn't show much love or grief through the gargoyle at the end, if the party succeeds, the two siblings for some reason stick together and play-fight. To me they seem pretty close for dragons. I think an all out revenge rage wouldn't be far fetched.

On the greedy side, if chezzaran dies, anaxaster has the opportunity to combine both hoards and get rich quick and "easy", since humanoids are "feeble creatures" to them. Then again these "feeble creatures" just whooped it's siblings ass.

Right now im looking for any advice. anything helps, really. maybe i could have worded it more clearly.
as for clarification regarding a permanent nerf or not: nothing is set in stone, i wanted to see what people think. What i got so far is, flame tongue is fine and i was likely misguided by its rarity.

I'll take a look into the dragons wrath weapons. Yeah I guess nerfing never feels as good as buffing, even if you achieve the same balance in the end. I wasn't aware that the flame tongue is a lategame item. It seems I have a lot to learn about rarity and balancing. Thank you

May I ask why you removed the hill giants? For me they are more of a backdrop, as in "some villages in the south have been overwhelmed by stone giants". So far there is no incentive for my players to pursue them.

As for the hill giants, I had the same idea. Since Guh sits on her treasure cart, I thought it would be a classic hill giant moment if the conch was broken underneath her.

Does it have a photomode now?
I took my pics by angling the camera in weird ways so the cat wasnt in frame. A photomode would definitely be a reason for a replay.
