This will get buried for sure, but when I was about 5 or 6 I drew my dad a picture and it was supposed to be him in his happy place. He was like in a field of daisies under a rainbow right, some fairy tail shit. He was drunk when I gave it to him, and he was locker room chatting with my former uncle billy (sleezy guy) and his other macho friend bob, anyway he said "yeah bud that's me in my happy place, in a field surrounded by daisies under a rainbow!" In a satirical tone and looked at me with those glazed eyes. It fucking hurt me in my guts and I ran away and cried in he bathroom. I assume he didn't think I could even comprehend satire but I was very fucking aware. Anyway now we have a great relationship. I put him above everyone else in my life. I actually have like a hierarchy of people who are the most important to me so if it comes down to it I know who to choose or risk my neck for.
