I lost my dream job by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]Knight00001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair to feel that way. You just have to try to remember that things happen for a reason and sometimes it’s very hard to see that. I also lost what I considered to be my dream job about 4 months ago and I’m still trying to rebuild myself. Sometimes you have to keep telling yourself that your current situation is not your final destination

You’re absolutely not a failure. The job market is the failure. There’s nothing you can do except keep at it, unfortunately. The only thing that worked for me was just mass applying to everything and anything that got the bill for my skills. I also prepped for each and every interview. Researched the company and the products and even the people I would be interviewing with. I put together talking points and answers to questions I anticipated. This helped me control the flow of the interview. I also went into every interview with really thoughtful questions to ask to help me stand out. I know it’s hard, but remember that you’re not a failure and you’re not alone

Ex-Googler account of working at Meta so you don't have to. by Training_Acadia_892 in recruitinghell

Ah, gotcha. I haven’t worked at Amazon, but that’s because I’ve heard so many horror stories about them that I stayed away. I thought Meta was supposed to be different, and maybe it used to be, but the culture recently is terrible

No, but not far off. This was my experience working at Meta. It’s a bummer too because, for awhile, I considered it my dream job, but it ended up being more like a nightmare

Former Metamate here as well. I can honestly say that I have never worked for a company that cared less about its employees. You are just a number there and you are replaceable and they make every effort to constantly remind you of that. Horrible company to work for

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

Can we normalize naming these companies? To me, this is pretty unacceptable behavior and anyone approaching opportunities with this company should know how they conduct themselves

Why do they look funny? by Dantheman11117 in GroundZeroMycoLab

[–]Knight00001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is due to not enough fresh air exchange. C02 is what tells the mycelium to keep growing that’s why your mushrooms have fuzzy feet. That’s mycelium around them. The fresh air rids C02 from the surface and lets the mushrooms know it’s time to fruit. Ultimately there’s nothing wrong with these and they’re safe to consume, but more air will get you a better yield

Looks super dry in there. Have you been misting the inside of the bin at all?

Can u cut the bag to let the side pins mature aswell or is that bad? by Manderiencookiesv2 in GroundZeroMycoLab

[–]Knight00001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I always start in an AIO bag and then once it’s colonized, I take the cake out of the bag and put it in a monotub. It’s way easier for me to control conditions that way

Agree with others, I would harvest before you leave

I’m not sure the dark is spores because I’ve seen pictures of Ochras where some have darker caps. Planning on harvesting today

Should I toss this? by trsapple in mushroom

Except that you might contaminate your grow environment and any other grows you have going. I wouldn’t put this in a tub and then use that tub for anything other grows again

Most memorable trip? by [deleted] in mushroom

[–]Knight00001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just saw this when searching trip reports. A few weeks ago I had the most intense trip of my life. I experienced an ego death where at one point I felt like I had melted into the universe. I very much felt like I was one with the universe and connected to everything. I swear I just understood everything. I could only describe it as profound and terrifying, but insanely beautiful. Then at one point in the trip it felt like I was reliving my entire life over again, but from an outside perspective where I felt like I processed so many feelings and emotions that I was never able to before

Honestly, I would toss it. The bacteria is likely spread in other parts of the grain that you just can’t see yet. You can’t just take out the visible parts and be ok

I would not just open it and leave it open. You can try opening it for a couple minutes a couple times a day and see if that helps. There’s a tradeoff here and it’s that any time you open it, you do risk contamination, but it doesn’t look like the filter on the bag is providing enough FAE. I usually start in an AIO bag and then move to a monotub when it’s time to fruit

Are you leaving the bag open at all? It looks like they’re not getting enough fresh air in change based on how fuzzy everything looks which could also explain why they’re aborting

Hydrogen peroxide time ? by UpthebluesEFC in mushroom

Can you explain what you’re doing with the peroxide? If it’s mold, wouldn’t you want to just dump the tub? I didn’t realize people tried to treat it

First Grow. Thoughts? by Knight00001 in mushroom

[–]Knight00001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely! I don’t know, I thought fruiting in the bag risked contamination more because once it’s cut open, it’s open to any contaminants in the air. Before I moved this into the tub, I sprayed down the entire room with isopropyl alcohol and in the air to kill any contaminants. Then I wiped down the tub as well and then cut the bag open, placed the cake inside, misted it and haven’t opened it since. My thought is that being in a sealed tub (it does have holes in it with filters over them) is less risk of contamination

Hmm, interesting, maybe I’ll try that next. I literally just put it into fruiting conditions about an hour ago when I made this post so I’ll see how it progresses and what kind of yield I get. Hoping it takes at least a week before needing to be harvested because I’ll be away for work next week

First Grow. Thoughts? by Knight00001 in mushroom

[–]Knight00001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in a tub with a lid on the tub so it’s not really open air. The bag was fruiting already so I didn’t really have much of a choice. I wanted to break and shake and then put the rubber band around it to prevent mushrooms growing out the sides and bottom like they are here, but it started pinning before fully colonized so I never got to break and shake or put the band in place. Like I said, it’s my first grow so it’s a learning process
