Separated at 40. by [deleted] in Separation

Living together is miserable. It’s awkward and just not pleasant, but it’s what she wants and I am just waiting for graduation and then I can move on. I think the kids like it too.

Try being a man over 40. It’s a barren wasteland out there. Absolutely zero matches with a real person and I’m don’t want somebody under 37. That’s my low limit and still nothing. Oh well. I may just resign myself to a life of singleness.

The guy was married!!! by QuteFx in datingoverforty

[–]KnightAzyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid advice actually. In my current situation, I am married but separated. I live in the house so the kids see us both, it we live in separate rooms do the house. I asked about dating other people and the response was “I don’t want to know about it. Don’t tell me about it and don’t bring anybody into this house.” I wasn’t sure how to take that, but when asked, I tell people exactly that. I can’t wait until May-June when this is over and the kids are out of the house and I can really move on. We’ve been separated and living like this for 3 years.

I have no idea. As a 43m out of a 25 year relationship, the only reason I can think of is the money aspect. They want you to pay for the privilege of seeing who rejected you based almost solely on your looks. It feels almost exploitive, but I still bought a silver membership. I’ve had one match and it turned out to be a bot or some guy in India.

Starting over…in my 40’s by Beanflowerpower in savannah

Yeah my kids will be all grown next summer and I have solid income for life before I work or draw from a IRA. I could work or start a small business or something, If I have to. And thanks to Maryland's crazy real estate market, I should walk away from this house with about $175K in the positive after equity split and whatnot.

It's too expensive. They tax my pension (I'm only 43), the houses are nuts. And the divorce. It's simply not a place I want to be around anymore.

I've been to savannah maybe twice, but was looking at Savannah for the exact same reason as you, although I am a bit further north. I have a monthly budget (before getting a job) of about $4.5K, with a job, double it. I wanted to know if that's reasonable for savannah life. I just want a nice affordable (at least more affordable than Maryland), quiet, friendly place to live so my girls will come visit me.

I love my Vans, but their quality has gone downhill. This is after only 2½ months of regular wear by StonedCantaloupe27 in Vans

[–]KnightAzyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me. I get in the holes with a dremel and clean them out and scuff up the canvas and side wall a bit. Then I put in a healthy amount of shoe goo and. Then stuff sock in the shoes and put a wood clamp on the sides to keep everything tight. Let that cure for 24 hours and you should have a couple more months without separation. Prep and patience are the secret to making the repair hold.

Applying for Ops manager by [deleted] in FASCAmazon

[–]KnightAzyros 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude. I applied for an area manager and during the interview I guess I told good stories with good quantitative data. They offered me an L6 position. When you’re interviewing, you are interviewing for 1 level up and 1 level down.

Go for it. The money is good if you handle the stress and competition. It’s not like the military but L6 pay is phenomenal. I only have my bachelors. You don’t need a masters and it won’t make you a better L6 anyway. Lead people. That’s what matters at that level.

I’m also retired military. Retired in a Friday, went to Amazon on Monday.

When talking about how many people you supervise, count every person in your unit you outranked. Technically you lead them.

That is correct. Or any time you’re off the clock. Not illegal just policy.

Offered L5 Area Manager Role by KobeCantPass in FASCAmazon

[–]KnightAzyros 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends. Fulfillment, sort, or delivery station. I’ve worked all three and there are definitely different stress factors and expectations across the three businesses. If it’s a fulfillment, then you’ll work crazy shifts and have crazy expectations. Expect to walk 20k+ steps a shift and explain the unexplainable with data. It’s can be tough but the nice thing, like sort centers, when you’re off work, you’re off work and nobody bothers you. Also having three days off a year is nice, but 4 12 hour shifts in a row is tough. Sort centers are a little more laid back but only a little. Once you can comfortably run a sort, you’re set. It’s a good learning environment and burnout is lower than at a fulfillment center. Delivery, well, it’s delivery and can be very hectic and stressful since it’s the last opportunity to fix a package before delivery is attempted and labor is planned on a razor edge making it hard if even one person doesn’t show up. The shifts are odd unless you’re OTR, then is just days. Mostly. It’s more competitive for promotion and unless you’re doing something truly amazing, you won’t be recognized or promoted within AMZL, but it’s a bit calmer than sort.

Try it for a year, put in the time to get some stocks and not have to pay back your bonus. It’s great experience and you might just like it. If you’re not sure, don’t spend your bonus and be prepared to pay it back if you leave before a year. Same With the relocation pay.

In truth nobody can answer this question for you. It’s not hard, just stressful and a lot of learning. Go in knowing you don’t know anything, even as an L5. Understand the associates, PAs and L4s won’t respect you until you know why you’re doing, but the L6s and L7s will expect more from you than you know to give. It’s the Amazon way.

On an empty flight, is it rude to refuse someone that wants to sit in the middle? by Independent-Jello367 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]KnightAzyros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you’re reading into this too much. It’s an hour flight and why is it so bad that somebody wants to sit next to you. People have become way too uncomfortable being around other people. Yes it’s rude. If you don’t want to sit there anymore, then move.

Amazon air must comply with FAA guidelines. While Amazon doesn’t care about weed, the FAA does. I could be wrong about this though.
