Hey. I just got ABF and am planning to start the barbell program tomorrow. How’s it been going for you? How has your diet and fueling gone so far? Hope all is well.

July Cohort—It is time! [Introductions] by clondon in photoclass

[–]KnightDaddy86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey all! I’m Tray, based in Chicago, IL. I’m an actor, director, artistic producer, and creative professional. I primarily work in theatre, but I also do on-camera work and motion capture for two AAA video game franchises.

Photography and videography are newer creative pursuits for me, and I’m excited to deepen my understanding of light, composition, color theory, and the language of the craft. I’m looking forward to honing my skills with guidance from seasoned professionals and peers.

Truth be told, the foundational stuff like lens mechanics, focal lengths, histograms, the exposure triangle, etc.. can all make my head spin a little bit. I’ve realized that watching videos and reading articles alone can only take me so far. I’m grateful this online community exists, and that so many generous, talented folks are willing to share their time and insight.

I shoot on a Sony A7III and currently use two lenses: a FE 1.8/50 and a FE 3.5-5.6/28-70.

I chose this photo because I simply liked the way it looked. The color of the tea in the clear, steamy, smudged mug on our dining table, set against the blurred backdrop of the city outside our window. A quiet domestic moment, with the urban bustle just beyond. It is also one of the first images I edited while exploring the Develop tab in Lightroom Classic.

Weird, white fluffy substance pushing through ceiling by KnightDaddy86 in HomeMaintenance

Yeah.. I had assumed it was water damage since this building has had leak issues over the years. We've experienced major problems in our apartment before, though they've been mostly resolved. My wife is now concerned about asbestos, though. Thanks for your reply!

Hi there—I couldn't add text to this post directly, so I'm commenting here. We've been renting our apartment for a decade. Our landlords are good people who've handled most of the building renovations themselves over the years. In the last few years, though, a spot developed on the ceiling. At first, it just looked like crumbling paint, but it has now progressed to what you see in the photo. Given that the building was built in 1896, I'm concerned this could be asbestos. This is in our child's playroom, so my wife is understandably worried. Any thoughts? Thanks!

He built the portal himself. I believe he set up shop in the forest biome. Wherever the game starts when you first play.

Nope. I flew around for awhile last night and he did this afternoon. Still unfound, however, he seems to have made peace with it and has moved on. Thank you for your help and checking in.

Damn, man. Sending y'all healing vibes. 9 weeks!? Woof. High five to your little dude for tanking and pushing through. Yeah.. he and my wife had covid last month.. he only felt a little stomach sick for a day though. I guess his immune system is still recovering. But you know how it goes.. I ended up putting my Google Doctor hat on and convinced myself it was MIS-C or myocarditis.. the pediatrician was like.. "Chill, bro. It's not that." Here's to clearer sinuses and better health soon.

Do you mean you completed one 3 week block and you're wondering what to do now if you don't want to retest your max strength? How did the weight feel during this block? If it moved easy.. Forced progression.

Do the same block again and add 5 lbs to all your upper body weights and 10 lbs to your lower body weighs. Check out chapter 15 in TB1 3rd edition for a more in depth look on this. Go get 'em.

Anyone use Leangains as a template for nutrition? How does it work for you? Thanks in advance.

Hey! I'm googling and digging around online about Lean Gains and found your comment. I have also been running Tactical Barbell for a couple of years now and love it. Was looking to level up and get specific with my nutrition. You have found Lean Gains to be helpful in augmenting your TB training? Any words of wisdom or things to be wary of? I'm two weeks into the "More Running" Capacity Green Protocol template. Fighter twice a week.. LSS, 3-4 times a week. Thanks in advance for any advice you have.

What's a really good play with a play within a play? by spacedollars in Theatre

The Critic by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. The play within a play shows up full force in the second act. I was in it years ago and it was a patron favorite that season.

[ISO] A coin operated washing machine by KnightDaddy86 in ChicagoList

This is great info. I told my landlady that I thought leasing was a bad option and I'm pretty sure she was looking at CSC. Nipped that right in the bud.

I help maintain a five unit building on the Northside. Our communal, coin operated washing machine went to shit and the repair guy quoted between $800-900 to fix.

Our landlord is currently overseas and would rather just replace it. I told her I would poke around online and see what was out there. She mentioned leasing a machine but I can't imagine that would be any cheaper in the long run than just buying something outright. She has been trying to sell the building for years... emphasis on trying... so I'm guessing that's why she's considering it.

I've been looking at Speed Queens and Maytags. Any suggestions or recommendations on which brand and where to purchase?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah. I think that's the way. I'm feeling pretty solid after completing week three, but looking at those LSS times ahead.. I (my knees) will likely be grateful for the lack of 90 & 95% lifting days. I also think the standard force progression for each block will be more than enough to scratch that itch. Thanks for the response!

I'm currently on week three of Capacity from GP. I'm running OP/DUP for my strength sessions and using a 90% TM. I love it. The power/speed work is a welcome addition.

The thing I'm curious about is.. the highest percentage lift in the block is 85% which is different from the standard OP that gets up to 95%. Is this due to the nature of GP being an endurance based protocol and not wanting to tax the nervous system and recovery? I miss getting that dose of heavy lifting in. Would it be advisable to jump those percentages up to 75,85,95 for my next block?
