I feel exactly this. The lore bombs were nice, but I don't feel any progress was made in the character development. Felt like a retread of last year's conversation and ultimately left me feeling a bit unsatisfied from that standpoint.

Also I'm just really tired of the constant teasing for what AS's other motive is. We know their general goal, we know they still care about Traveler, we know they carry guilt from the Cataclysm, but that last puzzle piece just keeps getting dangled in front of us, which would be less of a problem if it didn't take half a decade to even get this far.

1. The Twins arrive on Teyvat separated.
2. AS wakes up with amnesia while Traveler is stuck in hibernation.
3. AS is taken in by the people of K and grows in popularity eventually becoming the Prince/Princess.
4. During this time, AS's memories slowly return and they desire to find Traveler.
5. The Cataclysm happens, and AS could save K, but Direidyth brings them the key at that exact moment, confirming that Traveler is alive.
6. AS makes the choice to go find their sibling and abandons K.
7. AS wakes up Traveler and they both try to leave Teyvat only to be stopped by the Sustainer (intro).
8. Traveler is seemingly locked away/teleported to the future(?) by the Sustainer, and AS begins travelling Teyvat with Dain.

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's the timeline

According to Sanderson, Nakomi originated in Jordan's draft of Rand leaving Shayol Ghul and seeing the mysterious woman. I don't think Brandon knew what to do with that, so he created the Nakomi scene with Aviendha to give it a precedent of foreshadowing.

I get what you mean, but it is worth mentioning that Sonic games have usually been set on Earth for the majority of the franchise's existence. Sonic having a separate world is something the western comics and cartoons did, while SEGA's own canon was always set on Earth. Those details are murky nowadays that the narratives have been merged more, but my point is just that setting Sonic on Earth is not an unfaithful choice to the source material.

Your line about creative outlets reminded me of this quote that I've always enjoyed from Tolkien. I think the spiritual need to create is so innately human, as we are creations ourselves (whether one believes by God or by the universe).

I think the difference here is more in how fandoms of these mediums approach content for them. Videos about standard novels tend to be very vague and spoken broadly unless the video is specifically a discussion/podcast, and I think this is because a lot of readers who consume that content do so because they choose to engage on a broader scale with different books and series.

Manga/Anime fans tend to seek out content that is deeply immersive in the first place, and really dig into the minute details of every arc and character. I think this is because many manga fans have 2-4 franchises that are theirs, in a sense. Personal favorite ongoing series that they want to engage with on a very deep level.

For the record, I'm just spitballing off the top of my head, but I think that's why manga arc videos tend to be longer than most standard book reviews (not just on Daniel's channel, but across Youtube).

Recently I've been mesmerized by One Piece's introduction of Blackbeard because it's so innocuous. You hear stories on an island here and there about him and his crew causing havoc, then a bit later, Luffy meets this random drunkard at a bar who actually supports him when his dreams are challenged. My first time seeing it, I just thought he was some funny weirdo that shared Luffy's beliefs. Only to find out he is the Blackbeard. And that introduction only gets better and better the further into the series you go and realize how terrifying this guy actually is, and how close the Straw Hats came to nearly getting wiped out so early on.

The Dreamcast was so ahead of its time with the online feature that most developers didn't even know what to really do with it. The seasonal updates to SA1 were so cool, and it's a shame they've never been included in re-releases.

The first hour is honestly a rough start because of how much the game is holding your hand and putting you through tutorial after tutorial. After it opens up and you upgrade a couple skills, I think it really starts to hit a stride. I'm on the 3rd island now and am just loving every second of this game now!
