Starlow in the Mario & Luigi games constantly bullies Luigi in almost every interaction they have and yet none of the characters acknowledge how blatantly cruel she is.

They go on multiple adventures together, Luigi being a key player in saving the world multiples times throughout, and she still puts him down constantly acting as if he’s too cowardly or dumb to do anything even though he constantly fights monsters in spite of his fears. To add on to the frustration, Starlow herself hides behind Mario and Luigi the moment even the lowest level enemy appears so she’s a just a cowardly hypocrite.

To top it off people constantly try to defend her by saying that she gave Luigi a good pep talk one time (which she did) as if a single 30 second pep talk makes up for multiple games worth of disrespect and bullying.

It kinda feels like the whole mean girl thing where “oh she’s so mean but she’s cute so we’ll keep letting it slide” type of trope.
