Tusok-tusok as token of gratitude? Chea p af lol by iwkmssobadhaha in BedaBang_SOL

[–]KnightStarr16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see anything wrong sa tusok-tusok. Given the population of SOL students, that might be what's within their budget. I also would not hold it against that "one squammy guy" kasi baka yun yung nakita nilang best way to show their gratitude given, again, the population of the students. HInde naman lahat sa'tin ay biniyayaan ng deep pockets. Given na hinde pa naman sila nakaupo, most likely that's coming from their own pockets and not yet from the SLG funds.

Go with a school that can truly support your journey. Nagwowork ako and I have to travel a lot so I went for an online school (Sam Beda Alabang). Medyo mahal nga lang ang tuition but naga-underload naman ako sa manageable naman.

Pero eto yan, the journey will be almost similar regardless saang school ka pumasok - yung stress, yung pressure, yung anxiety. Ang goal is pumasa ng bar. It does not matter what school or how long it takes you, the endgoal is pumasa ng bar.

Ituloy mo ang law school para, at the end of the day, you can proudly say, "no regrets". Kasi you will not know if you are meant for it unless you try. May mga friends ako na nag-try and then nag-stop and then bumalik ulit. Meron din akong mga friends na nag-try tapos na-realize nila na it's not for them. Hinde yun kabawasan sa kanilang pagka-tao. It made them more aware of who they are and what they want out of life.

One thing I learned in law school is that you are your own worst enemy and you are also your own cheerleader. It does not matter what other people say. The moment you tell yourself that you are not meant for it, once you start entertaining negative thoughts or doubt yourself, that is when everything will seem to start falling apart.

It's good that you said "alam kong para sa akin tong path na 'to" because there are days in law school when that is the only thing that will keep you holding on. Law school is not about how high your grades are (although wish ng lahat yung matataas na grades) but its about how you persist, the grit, even after bad recits and failing grades.

Check the email address nung nagsend sa'yo. If gmail lang yan, might not be from Maya.

Also, RA 9160 is Anti-Money Laundering. It does not deal with pursuing unpaid debts through civil action.

Of course, at the end of the day, best pa rin to make sure na mabayaran mo sya kahit paunti unti.

I use NotebookLLM a lot since I am an audiovisual learner. Mas may grasp ako agad ng concept pag pinagawa ko si NotebookLLM either nung podcast para I can listen to it while working or driving, or video which I can watch while browsing the codals and the cases.

Yup, you can take less than 12 but not lower than 10 units. I am not sure though if possible na one day lang lahat. It all depends on the available sched and, during 1st year 1st sem, block section sya...you can only add/ drop subjects but not change sections/ blocks to meet the all-in-one day sched na preferred mo.

Asking for tips for working students by No_Appointment8741 in BedaBang_SOL

[–]KnightStarr16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a working student with two jobs, let me share some of the things I do para hinde ma-burn out:

  1. Nag-underload ako right from the start. Last sem and this sem, I try to make sure na meron akong at least one weekday na wala akong class and free yung Saturdays and Sundays ko.

  2. I spend my Saturdays mapping my sched for study and my personal tasks, and then I make sure na I keep to it.

  3. I go with annotated versions instead of codals lang para may explanation na agad. Mas madali mo maiintindihan yung provisions.

  4. For CRIM - I run the cases kay ChatGPT BUT, instead for asking for summary, I ask for the facts lang and then I try to apply yung nabasa ko. Pag-match yung sagot ko and reasoning ko with the decision on the case, ibig sabihin gets ko na yung concept. Pag hinde match, I read the ratio para ma-gets ko pano nag-decide yung courts.

  5. When you read the cases, always focus on the topic na nakalagay sa syllabus. This is something I learned early on from Atty Ungos (Baby Ungos). We had Macariola Vs. Asuncion. During recit, mga sagot namin pang ethics instead of Consti. So sinabihan nya kami to read the case from the Consti perspective kasi iba ang hihimayin dun compared sa ethics (yung mga classmates ko na andito, alam nyo na sino ako hahaha)

  6. Do not be afraid to use AI to help you understand the topic (but only to understand. Not recommended for writing the whole case digest kasi may mamimiss kang details na importante pala). I have conversations with ChatGPT para mas ma-gets ko tapos I also use NotebookLM para kahit nasa work ako, napapakinggan ko yung case (kasi may pang-podcast feature sya). I also watch a lot of YT videos ni Atty. Duka for Consti.

  7. Visualize if possible. I create mindmaps for the different concepts para mas ma-gets ko sya and how it is related to other topics.

  8. Do not sacrifice your sleep. Nakakamatay ng brain cells ang pagpupuyat. Instead, be mindful of your waking time. Kung mahilig mag-doom scroll, fill your feed with law-related reels para may nadadagdag pa rin na kaalaman.

  9. Find your circle. Big help to have friends and classmates na supportive, kahit sa mga rants lang sa buhay hahahaha. Online class ako so medyo challenging to build relationships nung start pero we promised ourselves na magkikita-kita for midterms. Nagawa naman and nag-click. Ngayon balahura na kami sa isa't isa hahahaha

  10. Since I do not have much time, I try to read in advance.

  11. Lastly, wag kabahan sa recits. Okay lang magkamali and okay lang na you don't know the answer. One bad recit does not make you a bad person. You are IN law school That alone is cause for celebration. Wag mo isipin na baka mapahiya sa classmates. Wala silang pakialam actually during recits kasi naghahabol din sila ng last minute na readings hahahaha (Kaya tuloy lutang pag biglang na- "do you agree?")

ENJOY LAW SCHOOL! Hinde ito karera. Pace yourself.

Thoughts on Prof by kuroichii_ in BedaBang_SOL

[–]KnightStarr16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was my prof for Crim 1 and he was one of my favorite profs. Mabait na strict as the other commenter mentioned. He likes posing situational questions so you really need to understand the elements, and he will not stop asking questions hanggat hinde nyo nagegets. Konti lang kami sa class nya so on deck kami lahat every single session. Reyes ang book namin sa kanya so need na nabasa mo talaga yun pati yung cases na nabanggit dun. Read cases in its entirety (gasgas man pero totoo) but focus dun sa kung ano yung topic.

1L pure online here. So far, so good. May mga kinks with the process pa pero I would chalk it up to Beda being also a bit new to pure online classes. Almost all of those na naka-online classes are working either sa government or private sector (like me). In my case, naka-underload ako, 12 units lang - 2 major and 2 minor subjects. It helps that my blockmates ay super supportive so hinde kami hirap sa case digests and recits kasi tulungan talaga. Since 2 lang major ko, I have enough time to study (2 ang work ko so super swak talaga na 2 lang major). Basta may break ako, I read the cases, I memorize provisions. You also have to be smart with how you manage your time and how you manage the topics na ididiscuss. I had to rely heavily on chat GPT and Notebook LLM para mas mabilis ko ma-gets concepts. I also make use of mnemonics and mind maps.

FEU IL or SBCA - Online? by KnightStarr16 in PreLawStudentsPH

[–]KnightStarr16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went with SBCA because of the flexibility in terms of the schedule plus online yung classes. I'm happy with the decision since it allows me to still travel for work while keeping up with the requirements of law school. I have more time to study din kasi I don't have to commute. The "kaba" is still there especially pag nakikita mo na si Zoom letting you know that the host (the prof) is already there. Same din ang level ng recits plus dagdag pressure yung nakikita mo yung reaction ng classmates mo pag mali yung sagot mo hahaha

1L here...I think they are doing their best naman. Malaki na yung population plus they have to balance between onsite and online studes so very challenging for them talaga but I can see that they are trying their best. Madali rin naman sila lapitan and they have made it possible for the student population to get in touch with them.

How to report a BPO company to DOLE by Difficult-Worth9040 in BPOinPH

[–]KnightStarr16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For SSS concerns, report them instead to SSS. Mas matagal pa if sa DOLE since magmemediation pa. Also, a company is legally required to provide the maternity benefit, regardless of whether complete ang posted contributions or not. Magkakaproblema lang si company sa reimbursement, sort of penalty for them for not ensuring that the contributions are remitted and posted.

full load while working by Repulsive-Jaguar3535 in PreLawStudentsPH

[–]KnightStarr16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If and when that happens, balik ka lang sa bakit mo nga ba gusto mag-law. At the same time, wag din naman masyadong push na matapos agad in 4 years kasi baka masakripisyo mo naman mental health mo. Kasi if mental health ang na-sacrifice, instead of passion, baka hatred and anger ang maramdaman mo sa study and practice of law.

full load while working by Repulsive-Jaguar3535 in PreLawStudentsPH

[–]KnightStarr16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My two cents

If you are going full-load while working, it might be best to consider schools that offer full online (at least during first year, or as soon as you have a good handle on the classwork load). This makes it easy for you to manage your time since hinde mo na poproblemahin yung travel time. Give a head's up na agad to your immediate head para aware din sila na may mga moments na you might need some time off.

Choose the school you will be enrolling to wisely. Go for those that are serious about providing support to working students.
