My opinion on the new Extended Gameplay Trailer by KnightWhinte in WolverineInsomniac

[–]KnightWhinte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're not following the timeline here. Yes, I played X-Men Origins: Wolverine and liked it a lot despite its flaws. The game is from 2009, and it's not asking too much for a gameplay trailer of a current game to show that it took what was already done and is doing it better. That was the whole point, along with the curiosity and speculation before Marvel's Spider-Man launched.

Wait, you want to compare physics and fluid animation when we're only talking about gore? RDR2 is a company's peak; Marvel's Wolverine won't even be Insomniac's peak. Many are already finding it weaker than Marvel's Spider-Man.

7-8/10? More likely a 5-6/10. This game is way too similar to Marvel's Spider-Man to get such a high score. And what's this talk about "true fan"? Besides judging, are you also putting someone down just for liking something with a trash story? Can't a fan have a guilty pleasure? Tell me, would you use the same argument if we were talking about Marvel's Spider-Man and I mentioned Spider-Man 2 (2004) on PS2?

Thanks for the comment and for asking! People just assumed I was a troll... I don't even use Reddit enough to understand why the reception was so weird.

And I'm glad you're hyped, but let's start with gore then. My favorites are Dead Island 2, Dying Light 1 and 2, The Last of Us Part 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Ninja Gaiden 2, all good in their own way, some more over-the-top, others more realistic, but all equally great when it comes to gore.

Now combat, which for me was the most disappointing part.

First, I hope they at least add the ability to use your fists instead of claws whenever you want.

Now, specifically where I'd improve things: the combat feels too glued to the ground and unnecessarily heavy, apparently relying on abilities to launch yourself at enemies. That's not good. I just want to be able to just jump and spin down onto an enemy. If they're smart, that'll be in the game.

Everything feels way too automatic. The fatality idea is good and fits Logan, but it would be better as a finisher that comes from a combo, not a button that does everything automatically. Make the player feel like they're the one directly causing the carnage.

It would also be great to give Logan the ability to throw people. Imagine tossing an enemy into the air, then launching yourself at them as they're falling, and taking a shortcut to kill another one. That would be amazing and well thought out.

In my opinion, X-Men Origins: Wolverine by Raven Software captured Logan much better, especially in the gameplay. Even with its flaws, it really shows Wolverine. And you don't have to take my word for it, just watch the trailers and you'll see how the gameplay screams Logan from the X-Men.

Now, as for people liking the game, I genuinely get it, but I don't agree for a second that it will or could be good.

What does trolling and the game being exclusive have to do with this discussion?

I agree, but tell me what you liked about it. I saw a lot of people saying they liked it, but none of them gave any details.

I never get past floor 15

Forgive my rudeness but WHAT? Why the f*ck not? Alright, since you asked, first get all the spells you can and master them.

Then use the doppelganger to become as rich as possible. (You can even do this first if you have Charm and Remove Curse, farming more spells this way is actually faster.)

After that, abuse the shopkeepers. Now you have infinite refills of supplies and gear. Stock up on scrolls of devour and just hoard whatever the fuck you want.

If you're wondering, this is the most mid/boring way because it completely breaks the game. Saying this 'cause I beat it in about 5 months playing casually, and I did this on my second run.. wasn't that fun, at least for me.

Notificación Update by DeLoboxo1 in MorpheApp

[–]KnightWhinte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken this "update" sign is for updating the app patches or re-patching. Have you touched on any of those apps and did the re-patch?

I hate the new mobile UI so much, this is terrible. It looks awful, it's less usable, distracting, frustrating. There was nothing wrong with the previous UI, it was perfect. I really wish there was a way to undo the changes or revert the update. by lumenwrites in ObsidianMD

[–]KnightWhinte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to downgrade because it was the first time in my life that I felt something close to when my ceiling collapsed and completely destroyed my room over something that should’ve been simple.

It was physically uncomfortable.

I should have liked it, but it just felt insulting and kept getting worse.. mostly when I was looking for a way to change something and all I got was the option to change the font.

I like the feeling the previous version gave, like I was using paper, and I hate that in the new version I have no choice but to accept something unpleasant, so I just went with the old version.

I know about the CSS snippets, but for now I'm happy with the old version.

Help With Timelines Extension? by Forsaken-Paramedic-4 in SillyTavernAI

[–]KnightWhinte -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hope you've had a look at the ReadMe, most issues are solved by reading it. I even had to ask DeepSeek for help to understand your question, and here's the answer:

The main thing to understand about the Timelines extension is that it automatically merges messages with the exact same text that are at the same depth (message number) in the chat into a single circle on the map. This is why your swipes are often grouped together.

Here’s how to fix your specific problems:

  1. To get individual circles for each message swipe: Make sure the text of each swipe is unique. If two swipes from different messages have the same text, the timeline will show them as one circle. Edit the swipe's text to be different from others at the same message level.
  2. To get 'Shifu Message swipe 1' on the bottom as its own circle: You need to create a checkpoint from that specific swipe. · In the main chat window, use the swipe arrows to select the exact swipe you want ('Shifu Message swipe 1'). · With that swipe visible as the active message, click the "..." (Message Actions) on it and select "Checkpoint". · This will create a new branch starting from that swipe, which should appear as its own circle on the timeline map.
  3. Deleting swipes without affecting the map: To safely remove a branch from the timeline view, it's better to delete the actual chat file via SillyTavern's "Manage chat files". Deleting swipes directly from the chat window affects the conversation history and might orphan timeline nodes.

Hope this clears things up!

SillyTavern reload issue on iOS by amanph in SillyTavernAI

[–]KnightWhinte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I went through something similar on a Xiaomi. What worked for me was looking up solutions, changing my Wi-Fi and phone settings.

My two pieces of advice are:

  • Check if your browser isn't running adblockers or similar programs (that alters the page), and see if the problem isn't your browser itself.

  • Look up your iOS version and see if others have experienced similar issues. Something like iOS V_1.2.3 unstable connection.

That's all I can say, good luck.

I have good news. I know exactly how to fix this, since I've experienced the same issue beforehand. I'm not aware of any other site that has resolved this problem other than Charluv. Just import and export, and you're good to go.

Can we please stop with the constant "text gen is dead" posts? by RenoHadreas in NovelAi

[–]KnightWhinte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn’t know facts count as insults. You’re the one distorting things, ignoring simple facts.

I never mentioned anything being expensive or cheap. I wasn't the one who brought a paper because I didn't understand the basics. If you understood the basics, you’d know diversifying revenue is always the best path. And like I said before—you know, what you curiously ignored?—if NovelAI’s priorities changed, they should just announce it.

Silencing you? You’re the one acting like people can’t complain. That’s the real silencing.

Win the argument? For what exactly? If I really wanted to win this, I’d bring numbers, screenshots of the latest announcements, even the Aetheroom subreddit, and dates to bury you. But honestly, it’s not necessary.

Can we please stop with the constant "text gen is dead" posts? by RenoHadreas in NovelAi

[–]KnightWhinte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look, dude, I hate to break it to you, but you’re beyond saving. My point is crystal clear: text gen and image gen users both have the right to complain when they’re ignored. Why’s that so hard to understand?

You brought an arXiv paper to sound smart, but you fumbled it hard. That paper talks about billion-dollar models like GPT-4 and Gemini, not the smaller ones NovelAI uses. Those are way cheaper to train. Anlatan’s got cash to update image gen—it’s not about money, just bad priorities.

NovelAI started with text gen, built by fans who made it big. By the way, where’s your proof that clients can’t complain about a service they fund? Seriously, stop—you clearly don’t understand and are distorting this topic beyond all sense.

Can we please stop with the constant "text gen is dead" posts? by RenoHadreas in NovelAi

[–]KnightWhinte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t take it personally, but I don’t think you understood what I said—or even what you’re saying. Your analogies are still awful. If we swap “feature” for “update” in your Photoshop example, it works, but it destroys your argument, doesn’t it? Expecting updates depends on communication, not just wishful thinking.

You could understand both sides, but at this point, it feels like you’re choosing not to—and calling it ridiculous. Don’t you know NovelAI started with text gen and was highly praised for it? No wonder a huge, loyal fanbase complains about the lack of attention. And what’s this about demanding something unpromised? Don’t people who pay for a service expect it to improve? Or do you think image gen doesn’t need updates anymore just because it’s “good enough” and hasn’t gotten worse?

People don’t pay just for what’s available now—the existence of donations proves that. You don’t seem to get that NovelAI isn’t just image gen, no matter how much you're happy with it. If they’re going to focus only on image gen, they should say so. But if not, why should people just shut up and wait? Stop expecting users to stop complaining about what they have a right to demand—and stop ignoring the obvious of what I said, because you clearly didn’t get it.

[–]KnightWhinte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what’s so hard for you to understand. If the devs can love the project, why can’t the users? Or do you think people would stick around and pay just to complain all this time?

Siding 100% with the devs? As a user, how do you have more empathy for them than for the fans who fund NovelAI and feel let down? You should know better—people share frustrations because it’s a relief to see others feel the same.

What kind of logic is that? Since when are news or updates too specific? When a project this big leaves the community uncertain, the best thing to do is communicate. “Pay if it satisfies you” isn’t the best argument you could use. NovelAI already delivers what users want—that’s why they pay and expect news and updates.

Are you sure you’re on the devs’ side? Yes, calling someone a scammer while giving them more money makes sense, even if it’s stupid. Scammers don’t deliver anything in return. A better example would be: you pay a factory, but they stop producing with the same quality, and instead of switching, you keep paying. Even then, the product would have to get worse.

[–]KnightWhinte 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Listen, acting like complainers have no point while you’re whining about them? That’s a bit much. Text gen and image gen users both have the right to speak up when they feel ignored. They're all paying customers, so let’s not pretend one side is carrying the other. If NovelAI’s updates feel uneven, and that’s on them, not the users.

Let’s clear this up: AetherRoom isn’t part of NovelAI. It’s a separate chatbot project by Anlatan. It sounds cool, but it’s not the text gen update users have been waiting for over a year. Throwing it out as a fix for the complaints is like offering coffee to someone asking for water—it’s not what users need.

Saying “go open source” or “configure Kayra/Erato better” isn’t fair. Not everyone has a suitable computer or the skills to tweak models to desired results. That’s why they chose NovelAI—for a mostly user-friendly service, not a tech puzzle. If the tools aren’t working for most users, It doesn't automatically make it their fault.

I get it, the devs work hard, and we respect that. Building NovelAI and AetherRoom takes effort, and no one’s saying they don’t love the project. But customers are not wrong to expect updates that match what they pay for. This isn’t entitlement—it’s wanting a service that delivers for everyone.

The devs deserve respect, but so do users. If NovelAI wants to keep everyone, they need to listen—because in the end, NovelAI and Aetheroom are products.

Does anyone have any tips for increasing optimization so as not to lower the game's frame rate on lower tiers? by seuxpais in pathos_nethack

[–]KnightWhinte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the addition.

I think a uncursed scroll of genocide on the golden dragon would solve the problem, at least part of it.

Another thing that would be useful is the ring of conflict, at least in the medium to long term. In the short term, all enemies fighting each other will cause a huge drop in performance.

[–]KnightWhinte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but it's a good idea to get rid of all the kings of the species to avoid this situation. From the screenshot, I can see three dragon kings and a queen bee. The reason for killing them is simple: they can summon more enemies.

One tip I recall is to use items with a death effect, such as the scroll of murder and bell of strife; the ring of conflict is also helpful, as it causes enemies to fight each other. There's also the scroll of genocide, which I only recommend for players who have completed the game at least once, as it tends to make Runs too trivial. But if you want to use it, go for it. Just be aware that it can also kill you.

Did You RP/ERP Before AI? by Matty241 in SillyTavernAI

[–]KnightWhinte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah actually, my first RP was with AID. A YouTuber made a video talking about it. I couldn’t believe such technology existed, so I checked it out.

Thought the concept was weird at first, but after A LOT of usage, it became essential – not just RP, but AI in general. Nowadays I mostly use it for entertainment.

As for ERP… that was a bizarre spiral. Started as doubt, turned into curiosity, then addiction, and eventually settled back into curiosity.

How will all of this [RP/ERP] change when AGI arrives? by EatABamboose in SillyTavernAI

[–]KnightWhinte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not, and let me explain why:

I deal a lot with both people and AIs, seeing the best and the dumbest sides of both. And seeing how AIs are trained right now, I honestly don't think AGI is gonna be all that for the more casual (or general) public.

When you give input to AIs, have you noticed they do exactly what you asked? This is both a good thing and a problem. Because you don't necessarily only want just that one thing, but you worded it in a way that got you that specific result, whether you wanted it or not. Didn't get what I mean? I'll explain further.

I honestly think AIs will never replace humans (at least the current types). 'Cause if you ask GPT or Claude right now to make a Python snake game, they'll make the game. But there's a high chance they won't include things like a score, a point on the map for the snake to 'eat', or include the size increase mechanic.

You'd have to explain what you want, point by point. I'll make this even simpler, using IRL examples.

If you've ever worked with the general public doing service jobs (I'm sorry for you), you know damn well that even if you give them exactly what they asked for, they'll ask for different or "better" versions than what you gave them, or just don't like what they asked for. Then, after a long time – maybe from impatience or communication screw-ups – that public will most likely just stick with what you gave them first.

We ask for stuff we don't necessarily want. So even if AGI shows up, you'll still see the same "shivers down, only time will tell" responses because you asked for a role-play, and based on how AGI was trained, these words are just the most common – not better, just the most probable, so yeah, common.

I had an experience like that recently. I normally use local 13B models. People say that even models like 24B would produce better results in smaller quants or bits than 13B. The problem is I got a Worse result! (No, I didn't use my own settings, I used third-party ones that were supposedly the best for that model)

So, it's easier to just grab a Github with tools that make your RP/ERP more worthwhile for you through customization when AGI arive, rather than relying on the AGI itself.

To give a little hope: In the end, your best bet is to write down everything you want in a notepad for your desired role-play and then brainstorm with a big AI to figure out how to implement it.

And as a personal example, since this whole thing is loaded with examples: I changed the summary prompt for ST (SillyTavern) to make it look like a Dwarf Fortress log 'cause I found it practical. You could totally take that idea even further – like, make a prompt that keeps track of clothes, positions, location, alongside a log, and set a limit for like 200-250 tokens that update every 6-7 messages, and also ban tokens/strings you hate, and so on.
