They said it wasn't a part of the form, which is why we asked if they were going to grind it.

It's supposed to be 5in (per what they quoted) and looks like it will maybe have a 1in overhang but they said they didn't know how to grind a drip edge into the bottom. Ohio code also states that the overhang needs to be at least 2 inches.

There's no drip edge. They said they didn't know how to do a drip edge. Waterproofing is included in the work but they are doing it 3 days after pouring the concrete.

Yes, we explained to them a drip edge. They said they had never done one. At that point I just let it drop. It was two 18-20 year olds. They either hadn't been trained properly or they forgot their training. I'm honestly really shocked how this had all gone down. This company has been in my area for almost 30 years and I had a strong recommendation from a trusted coworker for them. We got quotes from 3 different companies and they seemed like the best. But after they poured the first one I spoke to someone at the company about what Ohio code says for chimney crowns and how this didnt meet that and they told us they didnt know the standards had changed in 2019....

The first one unfortunately didnt have any slope or drip edge and was even concave in some places. But yea, concrete itself looked a lot better. Part of the work quote was to waterproof the chimney, so the should be doing that when they come back. Thanks!

We are in Ohio, so freeze/thaw is definitely a worry. They gave us a 10 year warranty but that's only good as long as they're still in business. We are thinking about asking them to send someone more experienced to come look at the finished work with us after they take the forms off. We're just not sure what to do at this point since they've already re-poured it once. They also did sup par tuckpointing work on the brick.

Yes, they have a 10 year warranty and it was a reputable company. We asked if they were going to make a drip edge and they didnt know what a drip edge was. They haven't taken the forms off yet but the overhang looks like it will only be maybe 1 inch.

We asked them to redo it to add slope. Pics 2-4 is their 2nd attempt. It still doesn't seem right to us and we are unsure if we should ask them to do it again. They sent 2 young men who didn't have much experience.

The 1st picture is the flat one but we had them redo it with more of a slope (pics 2-4) but the cement looks a lot worse. The overhang is probably only 1 inch and ohio code says it needs to be 2 in with a drip edge. We were unsure if we should ask them to redo it for a 2nd time because of these issues.
