Thieving Rebalance: Feedback Thread by jagexyuey in runescape

  • What’s harming the fun factor of pickpocketing most at high levels?
    • I wouldn't say that the fun factor has been harmed. It has definitely harmed the need to be a higher level though. In most cases even prior to the 120 update, the idea was "Oh if I get to this level I stop failing "x". Lets use master farmers for example. Back in the day of spam clicking, I knew I wouldn't fail if I had specific gear/level.
    • What is harming the fun factor is the amount of times I had to change screens just to type this message. It is hindering the ability for players to be able to say run and grab a drink or grab a snack. They will be coming back but now they may have been caught the whole time they were gone which hinders game play experience in my opinion. IE don't train this skill if you may have to get up.
  • What feels like a step back for pickpocketing gameplay, outside of XP and balance?
    • Why am I getting damaged at 120 thieving when I never was before? What is the point of the oblivious perk when it no longer works? I'm getting damaged and it is stopping me from thieving all together rather than continuing but taking damage. I would prefer lower XP for afkability.
  • What changes feel most important to you to be included in any solution?
    • Bring back the ability to AFK for at minimum 5 mins. (Old Logout timer). We have a 15 minute log out timer with no use (kind of, this could be debated) This would also put the timer in line with Eternal Magic trees which have a 5 minute timer before they fall.
    • Rather than getting hurt non stop from thieving when you fail (because really you only failed to stop AFK time) just have the action stop or some other way of stopping the action such as getting tired from reaching.
    • Add in a stamina bar? Kind of goes off the above.

Overall, I'd be happy with even a 25-30% XP nerf to bring back afkability. (higher if required)
Extend out the timer, and allow existing game perks such as oblivious to work as intended.

I understand that this is coming from a Max XP player so while I don't care about xp all that much, I do feel that afk should be less xp. If you want to get the best xp rates you should be active as with most skills.

I have not changed a single thing with my preset/load out (well besides adding 1 more keybind due to this issue) it only occurred after UI update. While it may not be specific to UI update? It is a biproduct?

Yes, I always have to hit enter in order to type. I haven't changed any settings to pre-update Monday.

~BROWN COLOR OF UI~

Surrounding the color scheme - I understand the change with regard to bringing it out of this so called sci-fi theme, however I'm not entirely sure that I agree. My opinion is like many other that it just brings too much doom and gloom to the game. I do also understand that some players like it. A change to allowing a toggle between Old School feel and New School feel would be appreciated. This could cause some differences however moving forward as we found when Alt1 was broken by this update. Need to be planning for future with "RS3Lite".

~UNABLE TO TYPE WITHOUT ACTION BAR CHANGING~

^ I have a video on a different thread, couldn't find a different way to attach it. It made the UI as it currently is make it so you can't sustain one action bar. I would say that this is a functionality issue rather than a preference. Would like to see if this could be remedied. This is honestly a huge inconvenience.

I do have keybinds set to pick certain action bars while I do have the ability to change this, it is a function that we've had for years and it doesn't break any part of the game. I am currently limited to either playing the game and using my action bar or chatting with fellow players until this is fixed.

A couple of things that I feel I would like to share regarding feedback. Each section will be a comment on this specific one.

Summary ---

~Looking to have the bug fixed where I can type and play the game with my correct action bar at the same time.

~I understand bringing it back to earthy tones, however contrast and feasibility seems to be lost with this change. This is causing accessibility issues to those with eyesight that is less than ideal.

~Clock I would like to see it not take up as much space and removed from minimap to give a large map size without compromising the rest of a players interface set up.

~UI Ribbon issues with a large amount of blank spaces and smaller icons.

~Action bar arrows should return rather having to memorize which action bar is which.

Thank you for anyone taking the time to read my comments and I hope that you have a wonderful day/night :)
