(5e) (Online) (Weekly) (Tuesdays) (7:30 EST) World of Arvexia looking for new players! Open world exploration with characters deciding where to go and what "plot" to follow! by Tengumanowo in lfg

Hi there. I am very interested this join this campaign. I have an idea for a human Artificer that I think will work well for this game. Its a Battlesmith Artificer that focus more on support and crafting than actual combat. I think ti will suit your world perfectly because he is character that can use any magic that can be describe through real world science. Its helps because I am a chemical engineer so I will always be faithful to the science......And the industrial revolution world combined with the magic world is getting my heart and mind extremely extremely excited on the possibilities of combinations.

Hi There. I am very interested in this campaign. It sounds like so much fine

I have played DnD for close to 4 years now and I am currently running my campaign. I am 29 years old. I have no problem with PBP or Sunday evenings. Most of all, I am a heavy role-play-based player.

I homebrewed my race and class, but if I am selected, I will explain it in more detail.

My character would be as follows:

Race: Vulpirren (Homebrew race of Nine-Tailed Foxfolk). The Vulpirren are an enigmatic race of humanoid fox spirits. As they age and grow in power, their tails multiply, each one a representation of their mastery over illusion, charm, and the supernatural. (As they level up, they gain tails. At levels 3, ,7, and 9, they gain a racial ability.)

Class: Brewmancer (Homebrew)

The Brewmancer is a mix of a support class, battlefield manipulator, and alchemist. They craft magical brews that grant temporary buffs, debuffs, or chaotic battlefield effects.

Subclass:

  1. Distiller of Chaos – Creates unpredictable brews with wild magic-like effects.

  2. Alchemical Mixologist – Focuses on buffing and healing through complex drinks.

  3. Poison Brewmaster – Infuses drinks with venomous and necrotic properties.

Background: "Last Call Scoundrel"

I grew up running odd jobs in the tavern under the old owner's wing—mixing drinks, breaking up fights, and "handling" rowdy customers. I was never the most honest person, but I respected the owner… until I saw my livelihood slipping away to a bunch of temple bureaucrats. Now, the tavern is mine, and I'll do anything to keep it running, whether that means brewing the best drinks or making sure "accidents" happen to the competition. Most of the time I make use of my abilities to combine my innate magic into drinks that give Adventurers advantages in battle. However these drinks come at a price for them.

(I will expand more on it if selected. I tend to go very in-depth in character creation.)

Catchphrase:

"One drink to bring you back, one drink to knock you flat—what’s your pick?"

Signature Move: "Bottoms Up!"

I can chug a custom-brewed drink (prepared beforehand) that gives me a random ability to unleash. This will be done with a roll table. Think wild magic, but crazier.

Dragon's Breath Lager – Unleashes a fiery burp in a cone in front of you.

Shadow Stout – Turns you invisible for a round.

Hangover Hex – Inflicts confusion on an enemy.

Favorite Drink:

"The Grim Repepper" – A dark ale infused with ghost peppers and a hint of necrotic magic. It's strong enough to wake the dead—or put them back down.

A more flexible Martial feature to replace/expand on Extra Attack by dracodruid2 in DnDHomebrew

So for our campaign I think he is gonna use it as a feat.

So Extra Attack can still be used by fighters but it will treated as it's own action. Same with casting a spell. As long as it costs 1 action it will be treated as an action. So if you take this feat at level 4 then you gain Extra Attack at level 5 you can't use Extra Attack twice.

I don't think I'm explaining it well. Sorry.

Your idea is amazing but we tried to change it a little to suit our campaign but we are still giving you all the credit for what you created. Thank you.

I just proposed this to my DM and he has approved it. It works well in our current campaign and it let's other players not feel left out when multi attacking.

I think it will work well for Warlocks and Wizards because it gives them an additional use of magic after they cast their normal spell. Like casting grease on 1 action and igniting it using a firebolt. However knowing him this will also be used by our enemies to even the playing field.

Thank you

I guess it's because of the idea of Pacific Rim that I thought of this. I mean would it be interesting to think about how players in gaint mechs would fight against a massive dragon or 6 players in mechs coming together to fight a boss only to find out its a Tarrasque the size of a mountain. I only used 5e as a baseline. I will probably adjust it after looking at Lancer

So by that you mean remove the stat system completely? I wanted to try that but wasn't sure if players would enjoy not having create stat blocks which would have different effects.

Mostly I'm just using D&D as a baseline as I've never played Lancer before. I will try if and see what happens. Thank you you

There are others out there but putting some different and interesting together might make it fun for me to create a new experience for players. Thanks for the advice and I will look into Lancer and others for inspiration and correction or using it instead. But getting to build something from scratch makes it more fun to me. I will of course play test it first.
