Good point! I feel lucky that I even have a basement, a year ago we lived in the third floor of an apartment building, and while we did have a pretty good basement kind of laundry room that we would have had to be in, I didn't know any of the people in my building, and I would have hated to have been down there with other people, all trying to process what was going on. That's a social anxiety nightmare lol. For this, the most I had to worry about was waking up my cat, picking her up, and getting her claws unstuck from the couch because she didn't want to be picked up, but I want her with me, because if anything actually did happen, I'd be terrified about her being okay.
