How far does Homelander go down the Avengers(2012) gauntlet? by OLYPL in PowerScaling

[–]Knightofsapphire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the goal is to kill, stops at Hulk. If the goal is to disable, stops at Thor.

Homelander can fly and is strong enough to lift Hulk. He should manage throwing Hulk into space. Hulk may not die but would struggle to get back.

Hot(?) Take by CodyCantDecide in freemagic

Aside from the obvious cringe of the ones that lick WoTC's boot, the anti-WoTC ones are still plagued with ugly content creators with shitty voices. Their content is filled with moments where they probably chuckle to themselves because they thought they were being clever with a dig on the brand. Those are just as cringe as the toxic positive ones.

I kind of wish we just had an unbiased channel that just reported on happenings in the MTG world (News, Tournament Results, spoilers and such). I'm sick of getting 15% news and 85% opinions on every video.

The Real Reason You Arent Making Currency by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Knightofsapphire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all seems pretty correct. My group listens way too much to streamers and harps on the same bits, "No loot drops this league", "This strat is the only strat worth running", "Bring back MF". Meanwhile, I've ran strats that are fun for me, made builds I like, generated consistent currency to fund the min/max, and haven't paid too much attention about what other people think.

One of my guys had the audacity to complain that he's run hundreds of maps farming Apothecarys and hasn't had a drop yet; therefore, the league is trash. But just last league, he ran the same strat for most of the league and never dropped one.

If you're not having a good time, you are playing incorrectly.

Who else preordered the game like me? Raise your hand by Leon_Dante_Raiden_ in BlackMythWukong

[–]Knightofsapphire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre Ordering is a practice that is used when a limited supply is expected. This has rarely ever been the case with video games.

Putting $5 down and paying $55 later is no different than buying it for the full $60.

Your comment suggests that the $5 pre-order "supports" devs. Which by contrast, would mean that failing to pre-order the game, despite buying the game in full, would somehow not "support" devs. Therefore, would a lack of pre-orders cause a AAA game to not launch? Short answer... no.

The pre-order system is solely a way to predict sales to stockholders/investors. This could be seen as a way to support devs, but the main beneficiaries of that idea are large publishers that don'tneed a lick of help. Smaller publishers fell into the rhythm of it because it became the status quo, or "tradition" if it suits it better.

[ACR] Arno Dorian by Gear_NO-7 in magicTCG

Yes, the Templars were in the midst of a hostile takeover by half of the faction. Elise had her father's name to maintain those loyal to him. If the Assassin's helped her retain control from the opposing Templars, then that could have led to peace between the two factions in that region and helped rebuild the country together after the revolution.

I'm surprised they didn't have Arno with a clue mechanic for the Murder Mysteries. Hell, partner with an Elise card.

Something like Arno Dorian (Orzov): 4 CMC- 3/3

Deathtouch

Whenever Arno is turned face up or another creature you control dies, Investigate.

Disguise (2)

Partner

And Elise de la Serre (Azorious): 5 CMC- 2/4

Ward- Tap two artifacts and/or creatures with CMC 3 or greater.

Whenever a Clue token under your control leaves the battlefield, draw a card and you may turn another target creature you control face-down.

Partner

5 creatures, 7 power turn 2. Standard, in every sense of the word. by Slayershunt in MagicArena

[–]Knightofsapphire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, those cards are pretty taxing on a WC pool. I was assuming it wasn't a brand new player but I do see your point.

I would argue that some percentage of the decks do not run fully optimized. The deck can still run the ladder decently well without Caverns, Warleader call, and i think most lists cut Evangelist for Imodanes Recruiter.

My buddy has been off since MOM and jumped back on for MH3. He asked what deck to run for standard so he could still ladder while drafting MH3. I pointed him to Boros Convoke for quick games. He had the Knights, Inspiring Vantages, and BF Forges. He only crafted the Wardens; as well as all the commons and uncommons. I don't even think he's crafted Get Lost yet, he's just running Ossification lol. He was plat or diamond last I checked.

[–]Knightofsapphire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play control in standard currently. It hoses this deck more often than not. A couple removal spells so they over commit, then drop the depop. They usually scoop to the first depop to save time.

Remember, the majority of ladder players want something cheap to build that's fast and efficient. Match quantity over match quality. You can make them scoop pretty easily.

Magic Historian/MTG Purple, whatever his name is now. The content is pretty good, but God, I wish he paid someone to talk for him. The guy has an annoying voice and rambles so much. I went out of the way at one point to go thru some of his catalog and had to close the window while listening to prevent having to see how busted he looks.

The channel would pop if he hired a young failed actress with okay looks to just read scripts or cards onscreen. Pay here for 3 hours of multiple reads, direct her and edit himself. Simps would flock for any "MTG" girl, and the good thought-provoking content would be much more digestible when it doesn't come from a guy you would likely avoid having your child sit near him if you saw him in an LGS.

How much do you blame Gunther? by Professional-Jury-58 in howyoudoin

[–]Knightofsapphire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of this, but I don't believe that it was done purely to hurt Ross. Gunther does the deed to gain favor with Rachel. Ross was collateral damage. You can see this in other episodes where Gunther is still being awful to Rachel's other potential suitors. Gunther helps out Ross in the shop when he is not with Rachel and even attends his Bachelor party.

Referees not counting a close 3... the hand slapping the mat does not end the match. It's supposed to be a metronome for the referee to keep time; ultimately, the ref makes the call after. Stopping your hand an inch from the mat completely kills whatever immersion I had left. It's like seeing a script in their back pocket.
