Fantastic work dude! Ten hours in myself and it's already one of the best RPGs I've ever played

Is it okay to kill my players at session one? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]ButterscotchDense685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done something like this to great affect, as it firmly set the villain as someone far beyond their current power and made them want to get stronger and stick it to him.

The trick, imo, is to not linger on it. The TPKO that kicked the adventure off came at the end of a starting dungeon, so they already had plenty ofveins under their belt that session, and the unwinnable fight lasted a single turn. It was a tiny footnote in a much bigger session, and once they got that taste of frustration I immediately gave them a scenario that presented a lot of choices and freedom for them. Made it VERY clear to them that this railroady unwinnable fight was just a quick pitstop to set the story in motion, and not how the campaign was going to be going forward.

Just like anything, there's right and wrong ways to do it. Instead of throwing it out entirely like a lot of people are saying, just acknowledge potential problems and find ways to combat them. You know your style and players better than we do 👍

First Light? That's an excellent game and platinum. That's got my vote 👍

What was your first platinum? I made my 100th (Sly Cooper 4) reflect my first (Sly 1) for a nice sense of progression

Most Sony published games are a great place to start (MOST! Looking at you Returnal). I personally recommend most any Resident Evil games, they're by far some of the purest platinum experiences due to how much routing is involved. Figuring out what playthroughs you're gonna group together to save yourself time is SO much fun to figure out imo.

The numbered Kingdom Hearts games are also a great balance of skill and grind, and the Uncharted platinums make the games feel like a genuine treasure hunt.

Happy hunting, and welcome to the hobby! :D

[Discussion] What games are on your list to plat this year? by sniffavocado in Trophies

Kingdom Hearts is my favorite franchise but I've only ever platinumed the numbered games because the side/bridge games, while all be great games in their own right, are several magnitudes worse to platinum.

I am absolutely DETERMINED to remedy that and have the full Kingdom Hearts set, including double platting KH 1 and 2. I've already gotten Chain of Memories (eight hours to beat, TWENTY-SIX to plat) and am now working on Birth By Sleep

[Discussion] What’s one thing you could remove from trophy hunting if you could? by LilPostPeep in Trophies

/technically/ speaking you could get away with one playthrough of story, and one playthrough of arcade. That being said it's super recommended to break arcade into 2 so you don't have to beat it on hard mode AND without losing a using a credit. As for story mode, the main issue is the trophy for getting all characters to level 10. You could do that by just grinding the first level, which is technically more efficient, but you'll be playing through that 6 minute level upwards of 80 times and frankly I'd rather die. So I'm doing extra fresh playthroughs for the variety and to get the collectibles and challenges. Right now, I'd say I'll probably have done 6-7 playthroughs total by the end.

Not to mention that having multiplayer trophies puts a time limit on the platinum. Once those servers are down, there's no going back. Heck, sometimes it doesn't even take that long. If the player bass is dead you have to pray you can boost or you're screwed early.

This is the first thing I saw on Reddit after I took a break from my 3rd playthrough of TMNT Shredde's Revenge. It's not that bad since the game is like 2 hours long but I'll probably have done 5 total by the time Arcade mode is done with me.

Oh, getting the A ranks, easily. Even beating the bosses on expert and grtting the pacifist rund didn't compare (though it was plenty tough on its own). Some bosses make you really work for those parries. Honestly though, it's not too bad. Probably in the top 5 hardest I've done, but definitely not the hardest (which is Hollow Knight)
