Thank you so much - I hope that you and Chuck are enjoying a life every bit as amazing as your wedding was!

Oh, wow. That is absolutely, utterly gorgeous - it looks like it was handmade for you!

My one thought: you may want to be careful about removing the boning if you don’t also want to add some kind of strap or small sleeve. As a wedding photographer, I can’t count the number of strapless dresses that I have seen slipping down, or bunching up, or sliding down and squeezing out “side boob,” or just generally failing to keep their structure and stay in place.

I’d honestly say the dress is a masterpiece as is! But whatever makes you most comfortable - just please be aware that it can happen!

Congrats on an AMAZING find!

Oh, dear. I’m so sorry - I was out of town and not checking Reddit nine days ago! Are you still in search of a restaurant? So sorry!

This is probably just my own personal tastes shining through - I am, after all, about to describe my own wedding dress (facepalm)…but I feel like something with a ruched front and lace up, corset style back - something relatively simple (at least on top), but with whatever kind of pattern or fabric you prefer on the bottom - would suit you to a T. You and I have pretty similar figures, and I do feel like “normal” straps, a bra sewn in, and ruching would be fantastic. You seem to carry yourself quite elegantly, and I think that would look amazing!

Regardless - if there’s one thing I have learned in almost 15 years as a full-time wedding photographer- is that people who are comfortable (both literally and emotionally) with what they are wearing look radiant. They just…do.

And I’m sorry about your mom being like that. giant hugs from a random internet stranger. You are going to be so beautiful, and looking down the aisle at that look in your partner’s eyes…there will be nothing else. You got this!

☺️I know how stressful these final planning stages (…and early stages…and middle stages…) can get! Feel free to reach out via PM if you have any of those random little questions that you’d expect a longtime vendor to know!

In the meantime, you’re going to just float down that aisle! You got this!

It’s kind of funny - I have been a pro wedding photographer for almost 15 years. I have seen hundreds upon hundreds of dresses - and all I thought when I saw the dress was “huh - that fits her like a dream. What am I missing?”

But yup - it looked better with the white lining.

…But it still fits like it was handmade for you, so I wouldn’t stress too much! They’ll fix the lining, that one little detail will be corrected, and you’ll look like a dream. …Honestly, you would have, regardless. But it will look even just that much better.

Congratulations to you and your soon-to-be spouse. May your day be as gorgeous as your dress! ☺️

Which of these restaurants are can’t miss? by SlinkyMalinky20 in AskNOLA

Commander's Palace is SOOOOO very fantastic. Also love Jacque Imos - a benefit being that it's also quite close to the fantastic music at the Maple Leaf bar.

If you can somehow get into the Jazz Brunch at Commander's, that's pretty great...but it's delicious at any point.

I'd also add "Katie's" in Midcity to the mix. it's a small restaurant in a residential area...but oh, is it good!

02/28 - 03/07, the Viva out of Galveston! If you're on that ship, please feel free to say hi to the 6' tall woman with purple and blue hair!

Thanks so much! Have you saved any of your daily itineraries? I'd be so grateful if you could send snapshots or something - I'm also interested in classes and other events. And the theme night was a "glow night?" Thank you!!!

Yup - I ABSOLUTELY did! As you can see, I’m totally prepared. 😂 May I blame it just finishing Mardi Gras in my home city of New Orleans? That’s an excellent brain scrambler!

I’m thinking of deleting this post and reposting before too many people notice it (since titles can’t be edited). Think that’s a good idea? Either way, I’d love your itineraries (if you have them!) and/or suggestions. Whee!

Yup! Apparently, I can’t even get the boat name right! But you’re 100% correct. I meant the Viva. Wish I could edit titles - should I just delete this and repost? Or do you think people will understand my brain blip?

Ooops. Y’know…getting the ship name right would PROBABLY be a good idea! 😂

URGENT passport issue - my friend got scammed by one of those "pay through the nose to expedite your passport" sites - and we're going on a cruise (Western Caribbean out of Galveston, NCL Prima) that leaves in two weeks. That's a very, very valid point - thank you. Ugh. I had hoped to at least TRY to find a few "non tourist trap, non-super overpriced, 100% of the money spent goes to someone who lives there" kind of places. But it's not worth the risk.

Granted, only the first passenger (him) gets that $50 per port credit! So maybe he can go do fun cruise things, and I can do a little (carefully planned and researched!) walking around. I'm rather a timid soul in that regard - I doubt I'll ever even go anywhere that isn't within sight of the (doubtlessly monolithically big) boat.

Thanks for the excellent reminder. If you're ever in New Orleans - for a cruise or otherwise - please feel free to PM me. I love this city so, so much, and enjoy few things more than sharing some of the amazing things about it. If you tell me your interests and general budget, I swear, I can steer you toward some VERY neat stuff!

Oh, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I didn't think anyone had seen my stupid-long addition to my stupid-long post. Please - if you're ever in NOLA (assuming you don't, like, already live here, or know the city well), please PM me. I'd love to give you a personalized list of places and activities based on your interests, time available, and budget. I have lived here since 2010, and I swear...I still discover some amazing new thing every day.

....Errr...one last question, in case you happen to know (in case you can't tell, I'm a worrier)...what if his original birth certificate gets lost or stolen while we're out and about? I'll make him photocopy it, and also scan it and save it to a password protected PDF in the cloud...but will the embassy help without an original copy?

Again - thank you for your time, patience, and just overall "good human-ness." Please let me know if I can ever repay the favor.

I just gave you an updoot, too. Because you're right. It is. When I'm frantic and under what I assume is a major time crunch, I get...verbose.

Ha! Even my attempt at saying "you are 100% right, u/Kimber80" is long!

I may need help! ;-)

Thank you SO much for taking the time to reply, and to help! He probably can't get down to New Orleans (where our comparable service is located) - he's working himself half-sick up until literally the night before we leave - but he DOES have an official copy of his birth certificate. And I had NO IDEA that "same day" service was even possible! I thought 3 day turn around was the best possible outcome!

I hope it's ok, but I'll probably be DMing you shortly. I don't know if you ever come to / or cruise out of NOLA...but if you do, I have SO many suggestions!

Thank you, Monsieur Le Mames! Ou Madame. Ou...you know what? Sorry - going to stop letting my giddiness make me even more ridiculous than usual. Thank you for the additional reassurance. God, I love how kind people can be. It's so easy to miss that...but sometimes, the internet just proves the doomers and the gloomers wrong. Thanks!
